We listen to Bob in the morning too! It's hard for me to understand the conversations between songs (I know that's a big part of his charm) due to the noise in the studio, but the music is G-R-E-A-T!!!
"When I Die, You're Going to Second Line" is a often played fave!;) :D

And based on the past couple years' (would say few but wasn't here for the first patry) talent, I am sure they are damn fine ideas

Me thinks it's time to expand the Patry into a 2 or 3 day event....you can sell Brass Passes, Overpasses, have VIP seats on the balcony.....:)

Two stages, VIP parking, food booths...of course, I'm kidding about all of this. I tip my hat to all of you who put the Patry together....I'm sure it is beyond challenging.

Ok, here's a compromise...in addition to Mo' Crawfish Bread (http://s72.photobucket.com/albums/i193/Michelino/ThreadHeads/?action=view&current=MoreCrawfishBread.flv)...how about adding the soon-to-be-world-famous original Hebjamn Fried Softshell Crab Bread?

At least it's nice to imagine...

So.... tell me about this patry.

2008 will be the 4th party thrown by a bunch of Threadheads who got together that first year & threw a little backyard party. It has grown every year, but unlikely grow any bigger; we want to keep that backyard "feel". Past performers have been Rebirth BB, Papa Gros Funk, the Radiators, Kim Carson, John Boutte & Paul Sanchez, Shamarr Allen, Hot 8 BB & Kermit Ruffins. There is some great food, a few kegs of Abita and just a great time is had by all. It is held on the Tuesday between Fest weekends and tickets go on sale around January. An announcement will be made on this site. Last year tix sold out in 22 minutes.
Proceeds from the patry & the raffle have gone to the NOMC in past years.

That's the tough part.and the sad part for us..it's an amazing party but not everyone can go because we have limited space. We do NOT want to open it up bigger because it will lose the amazing vibe of a backyard party. Then it'll become just like every other mini-fest during JF. It's all threadheads and musicians....so it's intimate as well. We don't want to lose that either so selling more tix isn't really an option. Make sense?

Thanks for the info and the link -- an impressive effort all!

We'll pay close attention as next year's fest gets closer.

You could have two parties right next to each other. One for the quick on the draw threadheads who happen to be on the Internet when the tickets go on sale and another for those who couldn't find the "any key" to continue, or who were in the process of re-booting at the worst of times ...then again, it honestly occurred to me right in the middle of being a smart-ass that you might let the tickets out in two waves on different days and times...I'd hate to be called into a meeting right when two tickets to paradise were just about to mine.

Sure does -- wouldn't work for me and mine. Tuesday is travel day (either outbound if first weekend or inbound for second).

Not to further derail a thread about Bob French but -- while digging around the .org site from the link, I noticed a mention of a post Katrina effort to get folks to volunteer between JF weekends. My husband noticed the appeal in 2006 and we were disappointed that we weren't able to stay to help. That appeal inspired him to volunteer two weeks in August (along with our then 14 yo daughter) and another week in December. His company covered his hours in August enabling him to use vacation time in December. We've since added a couple days to each trip to NO to help out wherever we can (and will do so this weekend).

So -- we didn't know it was you folks, but kudos on reaching out and getting the message out that a couple extra days can make a big difference!

I'm sure there are other great organizations spreading the word, but our very own ChiTownHuck organized FestAid the last 2 years, organizaing volunteers on the daze between for Habitat, Arabi Wrecking Krewe (I think?), Second Harvest, Animal Rescue, and the charity that clenas up the streets, can't remember the name. I also forget the statistic, but I know it's something like 80+ volunteers and hundreds of hours donated during fest.

Thanks Papa!

We've done Animal Rescue the last 2 years, they also need people at the shelter to clean cages, help with the pets (adopt them and take them home!!), etc.
