If you want to know about festivals in the delta, cathead website if for you. http://www.cathead.biz/livemusic.html
The guy who owns Cathead music and art store, Roger Stolle, is about 30 and is a st. louis transplant. His wife teaches high school there. Roger has got his finger on the pulse of the delta and serves up a free mini fest on the porch of his store when a bigger fest is taking place in town.
I'll be going over for this saturday's show. and for the juke joint fest. and for the sunflower river blues and gospel fest. And for kenny brown's hill country picnic. Oh, and for the leland blues fest.
But to kick the festival season off, i'll be going to the JAZZFEST, the fest of all fests!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is a rainy do-nothing day around here, so we were watching IFC and just saw the most amazing movie about all those blues guys in Mississippi, and Fat Possum records, it was called You Saw me Laughing - and TModel Ford was in it, so was RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough and many others - made me think of the blues festivals you've talked about... I;ll have to get to one of them sometime.

Isn't that a great movie?! I fell off my chair laughing when Iggy Pop recalled Junior Kimbrough calling him Lolly Pop. Sorta puts everything into perspective.
