Hi everyone! I am new to the forum. I live in Mandeville Louisiana. I came across this forum while trying to research how to sell a 1996 signed Jazz Fest Poster.(Pete Fountain and the Blue Dog). I put it up on Criag's list once, but all I got were scammers trying to get something for nothing. So, if anyone out there has some advice for me I would appreciate all input and suggestions.
Thanks,
Fishmaster1

The last price I saw it sell for was 975 on one site and 700 something on another. The Rodrigue Studio says they are worth around 1200. So I am not really sure what is an appropriate price.

There used to be a page on Art4Now (I think) or someplace you could go that gave you the current value of any poster. The Art4Now site is under construction. Found this, but you can no longer buy them. So I'm sure the worth is greater than $700

Welcome Fishmaster!
I think the price has come done for these posters in the last year a little. Ebay has ongoing an active market in JazzFest posters...but the fact is you will get a better price in the month or so rightbefore and after Jazz Fest time. The last completed auction for a signed 1996 that I can find went for $500 (http://cgi.ebay.com/1996-New-Orleans-Jazz-Fest-Poster_W0QQitemZ270170896823QQihZ017QQcategoryZ280 09QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) I kinda of informally track the price of JF poster and I have seen unsigned go for close to $600 but always in April
Art4now has 1996 posters in stock....
See this link to see the current Art4now prices (http://art4now.com/store/viewItem.asp?idProduct=70&cat=143)

This was one I needed to fill in my collection for the years I've been going to Fest. I bought a signed one on E-bay a couple of years back for $300. I've seen this poster sell in the $500 range this year. Now if I could just get the 1995 for a reasonable price.

That just IMHO (over) estimates the value - doesn't mean they have them available. Their old site used to have the shaded boxes for the ones they actually had in stock. I liked that alot better.

I see what you mean. But I think those prices might still be the estimated price that they would sell a poster for if they had one.
Yeah, I think the prices now listed for each item are the "market" prices for the ones not in stock. Those always tend to be a bit optimistic.
I agree, sell it on ebay.

Jolie, quite possible that we have met. I fish in Lacombe quite often. Art4now does not have this poster in stock... I clicked add to cart.... item sold out. And to djgriff, when I listed the poster on craig's list, there was a guy who responded who had a 1995 that he was trying to sell. You can post a wanted sign on craig's list and maybe someone will respond. I'm sorry I don't have his name and e-mail address anymore.
Also, I would think that since the strom the value of these would have gone up because I am sure that some of the 3000 that were made were lost which makes them more scarce. I have number 646 of 3000. I may consider putting it on ebay. I did see one not long ago that was the remarque signed edition and it did not sell.(only 750 of these were made) I do appreciate all of the information and suggestions.

Thanks - I don't have trouble finding the 1995 - it comes up quite often - just not willing to overpay for it. There is one listed on e-bay right now for $999.

Hi, Fishmaster1. Welcome to the forum.
I have a suggestion for your poster. It wouldn't be a sale, but you could donate it to the annual benefit raffle hosted by the Threadheads.
You would get a fair market- value federal tax deduction, and The New Orleans Musicians Clinic would receive the cash. The Threadheads receive none of the proceeds.
Of course, if you want the green stuff in your hand, nothing wrong with that! Just thought I'd mention it as a way of disposing of the poster.
Best wishes!

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. Even though I don't have that poster anymore, and I didn't claim the tax deduct. There is money in the hands of NOMC and that poster hangs in the the home of threadheads that love it as much as I did for many years :)
Having said that, I doubt I'll be donating any more of my posters ;)
Oh, and welcome, Fishmaster. All things fish are wanted and needed. Do you fish on the lake, and how is all that going these days?

Hi Fishmaster
I can pretty much gaurantee a huge ice chest of fish, the day before and the day after i go they are tearing them up, they are jumping in the boat. When i go, its a boat ride, about 10 AM, i am into the ice chest already for lunch. My dad fishes bayou Lacombe occasionally

and I thought I was the only man in America that had gone to the Sporstmen's Paradise 4 times (2 fishing trips, 2 duck hunting) with nothing to show for it? HA It's really quite comical.
My cousin who lives in S. LA. says he doesn't want to take me anymore! LOL Can't blame him.
The fishing trips were both hampered by bad weather but the duck hunting trips were just poor luck.
