I didn't get any new CDS myself, but I got a couple of good ones for hubby (which means they are mine, too!):
Loreena McKennitt - An Ancient Muse
TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain.
And just a few days ago, I got Sarah McLachlan's Wintersong CD/download. Very nice stuff.

I raided LMF at Festgiving & got the big bag. Nothing for Christmas. Know the UPS man was disappointed for not bringing me a care package from NOLA, but will have to order some soon.
Hadn't asked anyone for any, but did get the cd & dvd of the Cream reunion. Rawks!!!

My Christmas goodies didn't arrive from LMF in time, but I'll be ready nice and early for next year!
In the meantime I heard some recordings of my grandson's band (gawd!) and listened to hours (and hours and bloody hours) of my nephews singing to their play station karaoke thingo... no resemblance to Christmas but kinda heart warming just the same!

I got Candice a CD of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band covering Marvin Gaye's 'What's going on?' ... the entire album.
Havent listened to it yet though, has anyone seen/heard this CD?

I give it mixed reviews. While I do play it occasionally on my show, I find it a little overly mellow. The second cut, with Betty Lavette, is excellent. It was an ambitious project, but it's not what I look for from the band. Just my two cents.

I adore it. Yes, it's heavy on hiphop but i love the mellow vibe. Wonderful stuff. I'm gonna put it on right now.

Just played the ddbb's what's goin on. My fave is their take on inner city blues:
It's time to leave the negative thoughts behind
Inhale and bring the good air in
Exhale; release impurities within
If you don't stand for something,
you will fall for anythiing.
Let's see what this new day will bring
STill it makes me wanna holler

Yep...I love that cd and hope they're playing at fest.
Evangeline Made: If you enjoy cajun music don't be put off by the big names(John Fogerty, Linda Ronstadt, David Johanson). This is a very well done, honest tribute to the genre.
The Essential Louis Armstrong: After watching Ken Burns' Jazz series 2 weeks prior to Christmas, I really wanted the Hot 5 and Hot 7 session albums but they're out of print so this will have to do. Still, a 2 disc set covering 50 years isn't bad.
Best of Bix Biedebicke: This purchase was also a result of the Ken Burns documentary.
I also want to thanks those of you who sent Christmas music. I'm steady looking for new stuff for Cool Yule.

If you like this one, I also recommend Adieu False Heart, by the Zozo Sisters, who are Linda Ronstadt and Ann Savoy.

Miles Davis - The Jack Johnson Session - Box Set
A little disjointed, but insane (Especially if you dig the Garage A trois adventurous type stuff)
Check this out
