Yep... walked over during a break in Congo Fest for a cold beverage... the place was empty. Hopefully with the end of summer, things will pick up.

Late (or early) breakfast is a good idea. Thats good to know

Glad to see they are hanging on, as they are certainly one of the major casualties of the Frenchmen St. renaissance. I stay around the corner during Fest and it's been sad to see the lack of traffic on N. Rampart St. since the Thing and the Butt's demise.

Ya know I said it was empty.... but actually as my husband reminded me, there were a few people in there. One guy we met was Glen David Andrews...who was busted the next day for parading

i had a "jazzfest moment" at donna's during a treme brass band show during the second weekend in '06...absolutely banging show. was all primed to go back this last year, but i dont think they were open...

great spot, and they do quite a bit to promote the local brass scene...

I hear you, nola_funk! A plate of Charlie's Red beans wouldn't be too bad, either!

Me too - I'd hate to see them close. There used to be a great trio of bars to hop between on Rampart - Funky Butt, Donna's and Mama's. I really miss the Butt a lot!

The Funky Butt was such a cool place....I wish they could re-open that. Wonder if Big Sam is still considering opening a bar?

When I first began coming to Jazzfest in the 90's, Donna's was our traditional "First Place" - the first night we were in town.

I've had some of my best NOLA memories in there and at the Funky Butt (R.I.P.:(). I'll definitely be at Donna's this month to see Evan and Tom!

My favorite place to hear music in New Orleans. Always a good show and vibe. I remember hearing Trombone Shorty there the night he graduated high school (he blew the doors off the place). It's always great with a pile of brass players crowded on the stage and jammin. May this institution hang in there, please! It will always get my business when I'm in Nola.
