I'm not at all religious, but, of all things, I'm always moved by Linus in "A Charlie Brown Christmas":

“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

Merry Christmas, everybody.

YYR, Bigdag
Linus was actually "quoting" the Bible in Luke Ch.2 v.8-16 :)
My brother is a priest and he informed me of that one time when I mentioned how Prophetic Linus was in A Charlie Brown Christmas.
He is such a wet blanket when it comes to church business hehehe

Uh Huh, mightyrad & big dag. Sang those exact words out strong last nite at the "Do-it-Yourself Messiah." Awesome experience to hear 3000 voices singing Halleluja! What a masterpiece of music.

Peace and prosperity to all this Christmas. Be Merry!

And the angels said unto them behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

Remember George, No man is a failure who has friends.

You will shoot your eye out kid

and what happened then? Well in Whoville they say that the Grinch's small heart grew three sizes that day.

It was Tommy who picked up the tiny top hat and put it on the snow man's head. Zing! Tommy 's hand sprang back with a shock. It is MAGIC gasped Tommy.

I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.

If there was no Santa there would be no child-like faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

May the spirit of the season be childlike and wonderous all the year ....

May you all have a safe, joyous and wonderful holiday. Sit back, count your blessings and appreciate the important gifts you have that can't be wrapped or put in box but give life meaning. And if for whatever reason there's an empty place at your table, keep who you wish could be there in your thoughts and your heart. No matter if they are far from home, or in a better place they will know you are thinking of them.

Here's to peace, joy and happiness for all.

Well said Scoop. Definitely a time to remember those far from home those less fortunate. I had Christmas dinner with a family, friends of my brother, who up until today I had never met. By the end of the evening we were fast friends-definitely heartwarming.

The Charlie Brown Christmas special is the best one ever made. 41 years old, and nothing's come close to it. Saturn. I love your Chrismas tree post.
