...and counting!

I'm getting into Memphis on the 3rd. Staying at the casino for the Fest. My spousal unit had to bail, due to his w*rk load, so I'm solo this year.

KK, are you still planning to go?

Yep, I'm rolling in 6ish Thursday night. Maybe later if juana rides with me. Saturday evening juana and i are heading out though. We're gonna go to memphis and see Robert randolph and the family band on the gibson rooftop. Then head home from there. We'll bring an extra chair for fest, in case you want one.
But first I'm going to New Orleans this weekend!

Thanks, sweetie, that's very considerate, but if I need a chair, I'll just roll one of the drunks on the levee! Just kidding!! Might bring one of my low beach chairs, though. Thank you for thinking of me.
I'm going back into Memphis one night to see Bob Margolin @ the Rum Boogie. Not sure which it'll be yet.
I'm meeting up with my friends from Vancouver and Arkansas; hope to see you and Juana there, too. I have a FOB pass so I'll be up front & center.

Hope your weekend in New Orleans is most enjoyable!

casino across from the fest, or one of those Tunicas places?

we'll be camping otherside of the levee, arriving sometime thursday night (might have to stop for RR in Memphis now that i've heard about it). wont hit the stages until friday either way.

maybe you can steal back my chair that was swiped 5 years ago while i was off watching the Cubs get spanked in the playoffs. never had a chair stolen while off watching the Cardinals (numerous years). camoflouged print, folds to carry like a backpack. one of my favorite bandandas and some other minor stuff was in the pockets. makes me sad to think someone needed to do that.

Aw, crap, i hate that someone stole something at a fest. Esp a fest in my home state. Barb, RR is saturday night.
I'm pretty sure sissy will be at the casino just across the river. That's where we'll be. Camping next year.

The isle of capri, stlbarb, right across the river. You're staying at the Fire Dept. campground or the other one? Tent or RV?

Wanna meet up for a brew? I think I may have met you at JazzFest...2nd weekend, Camp Potter, Steely Dan?

Hey kids, if you end up spending any time in Memphis give me a shout. I may get down to the Biscuit on Saturday. You can e-mail me at BluesToday (at) webtv (dot) net, and we can exchange contact info.

yup the fire dept. what's the other one? there's a bunch of places that let RV's plug in for a price, but the only other campgrounds i've heard of is the state? park pretty far away. we like to stay within crawling distance. we camp back in the woods - tent city (now more like RV city) is just too much of a party for us oldsters. when the wind is blowing right, we can hear the main stage from camp.

jeez, i dont remember Steely Dan - but dont know why i would have missed it - either i was drinking (everyone quit giggling) or i was at the other stage.
was that the flood day? where was camp potter that day? i hang right in front of the sound stage at Acura.

you can get my email address from Vicki.

barb, Camp Potter was at Acura. No, Steely didn't play the day of the monsoon. I met someone I thought was you at S.D., but I guess it wasn't you. Pokerchip introduced me to whoever it was! Oh well, maybe it wasn't an either/or type of thing. :)

The other campground at the Biscuit is on the right, just behind the levee. I've never stayed there, but it's a property the owner rents to campers during the festival. I don't have Vicki's contact info, if you are referring to FJ/KK, that is.

It's up to you, depending on your time frame, but I live about a half mile from the Blue Dog Exhibit. We could meet if you have time. E-mail me, and I'll give you my number just in case.

'K, staxsun. I will email you. I'll type "sophisticated sissy- blue dog" as the topic. It'll be from a yahoo mailbox.

Look forward to meeting you! As long as you're not a Hatchet Murderer kind of guy, that is! :D

I always type it that way, but I don't think it's case sensitive. I got over the hatchet thing a few years back. If you need references, most of the regulars on the board have met me. I certainly would meet you in a public place (as I always do when meeting new folks).

but we need the chainsaw for cutting firewood at camp......

dont think we'll stop in Memphis, probably just head to camp. its going to be too warm to leave the dogs in the truck.
forecast is for a hot biscuit.

Yep, but at least we're not breaking 90. Since there's a prediction of a little wetness, maybe that will cool things down a bit. Or just make it steamy. But at night, the breeze off the levee always makes it wondermous. Or cold. Cyall:p soon.

It was hot as hell. Bought me an umbrella at Myrna's dollar store on Cherry Street and it was the best 3.50 I spent all weekend.
Loved Hideaway Bridges. Loved Pinetop. He is still all that at 94.
Loved when Wayne Baker Brooks's band closed with Get out the way and let the gentlemen do their thang. A la jon cleary!
Texasfred would have loved the closing set on Friday. It included Michael Burks, Sherman robertson, Larry McCray and ?. Forgot number 4.
Loved that my man Willie King got a set on the main stage, even if it was at 1:20.

That sure was fun! Kenny Neal was awesome. The Lee Boys put on a fantastic show. Their harmonies are so sweet. Sean Carney turned in a magical performance. The whole weekend was packed with music.

Staxsun, it was so nice to meet you! The Dixon Museum is a beautiful place. I look forward to spending more time there. It was great strolling through the galleries with you and spending time with the Blue Dog exhibit. Thank you for the great directions to Beale St. Hope all is going well with you & Eileen.

I regret not catching up with you on Sat., but I was captivated by Roy Book Binder's spellbinding performance at the other stage. He has the best stories!

Went to the mini-fest in Clarksdale on Sun. & to Pinetop's Homecoming at the Hopson Plantation. Great music & peeps. Stayed in the Crossroads shack. Closed Red's down at 3:30.

The Biscuit (AB&HF) is a great festival and I'm looking forward to next year!

It was great to meet and hang out with you, too! Even though we only got down to Helena for a few hours on Saturday, we had a big long weekend meeting with the folks who came for it. First there was Wednesday Bluedogging with Sissy. My buddy Jef visited Wednesday night and Thursday before heading to Clarksdale. I got to have lunch with the gospeltents on Friday before they headed on to N.O. Saturday we actually went down and saw some of our other blues friends and a couple of threadheads. I missed Kinderfunkvikkitti and Juana down there, but we had lunch here in Mempho on Sunday. Jef came back and visited some more before flying back to Seattle on Tuesday. So I managed to do six days of visiting but only one day of blues.

FunkerVikkiKinderKittieJunkie, I know it's really early, but do you know if the dates for AB&HF '08 have been set? It's usually held the first weekend of Oct., but is there some rule, rhyme or reason behind the method in which the dates are chosen?

LOL! Yeah, crepes, sista, rhea, nellie, I forgot all your other names. Jeez, we're in the same boat on the name thing. It is usually the weekend before Columbus Day. This year Oct 10, 11, 12. http://www.bluesandheritage.com/ We have started calling the casino at lula to try and score a room but this may be the year I camp.

Oh, shoot! It looks like I will have to miss this year!:(
Conflict of events. I was hoping it would be the weekend before. Thank you for the info.
I stayed at the Isle of Capri casino last year and I think it was in June before I got a reservation. I really love that area, so it looks like I will have to make it down there some other time this year. I can't stay away until '09!

Here are two possibilities: http://www.sunflowerfest.org/
In Clarksdale in August and hot as hell, but I wouldn't ever miss it because my beloved Rising Star Drum and Fife band is always there.

Or Kenny Brown's picnic on july 4 and 5.
