HI
A friend is going to Charlotte NC for a conference the weekend of Oct 5th and is looking for suggestions as to places to eat and places to maybe listen to music etc general cool stuff :)
Everything she has seen on te net looks a like a younger college scene.
SO I AM THROWING IT OUT TO YA"LL ...tips and advice would be greatly appreciated

I don't make it down to Charlotte much any more but it might help us make recommendations if we had some idea of the area they're staying in.
Check out the listings for The Double Door (old, converted house - prolly the closest thing to a Nola dive-y bar with music, mostly blues), The Visulite (old movie theater turned music venue) and the Neighborhood Theatre (also old movie theater turned music venue - lots of bluegrass, old and new). The first 2 are downtown and the third is north of town.
Our live music options aren't too prolific....

If that's the case, then they should definitely go see JR. Brown! :D

i'm so sorry...i haven't been on the bored...charlotte is my city!...downtown-my favorites: Mimosa Grille, Luce, Coco Osteria, The Dunhill, City Tavern, cosmo's.....next door to visulite, fab restaurant called NOFO. wonderful food, also same street, Carpe Diem. cool bar next door, over looks the city, great big couches outside on patio....Loft 1523.
cool section South End, can take a cab from downtown...less than 2 miles from hotel...Pewter Rose for dinner and then have a cocktail at Tutto Mundo.
there are my favorites and the places i frequent.
for soul food...downtown Merts Heart and Soul.
our music is limited. we don't have mellow little places with music.

oh... i forgot about the wonderful section of NODA..that's where the neighborhood theatre and evening muse is. evening muse very cute....love both places....to dine there? i would go to Cabo Fish Taco or Boudreaux's. also a 5 minute cab ride from downtown.
