Music Royalty Comes Together To Pay Tribute To Fats Domino On New CD: Goin' Home: A Tribute To Fats Domino, available September 25.

Icons from the world of rock, blues, reggae, pop and country music have joined together to salute the genius of legendary piano man FATS DOMINO for the upcoming double CD set, Goin' Home: A Tribute to Fats Domino. Goin' Home is set for a September 25th release on Vanguard Records and will help raise desperately needed funds specifically earmarked for instruments to be donated to New Orleans' public school children. Monies raised from the sales of Goin' Home will also go toward the rebuilding of Fats Domino's home and to create a community center in the Crescent City's still ravaged Lower 9th Ward. Proceeds of Goin' Home will fund additional community related programs.

The album will be available on iTunes and at all major retailers.

Pick this up for a good cause, not to mention the music!!!!

Just got this CD and love it. Some not so good covers, but also some real gems. To me the real surprise is Robert Plant + Li'l Band of Gold. Los Lobos and Randy Newman are just great. Lots of others well worth a listen. Buy it.

That's my favorite song on the whole CD. It sounds like LBoG is playing in Jackson Square and Robert Plant just happened to stop in for a song. :D

I think I sold 2 of these today. First, I put on the Willie song for my boss, then told another guy that he just had to hear Robert Plant with a Cajun band. I think they'll both be owning one by the end of tomorrow.

More money for the Tips Foundation. YEAH!!!!

Taking it on the road trip to our boys football game tonight. So excited!!! Had to share cause I just wrapped it and am dying here!

I have yet to hear the CD, but just finished reading "The Lost Dawn of Rock & Roll". Fats is the original, baddog concert showman. His shows were historic blockbusters, socially repressed and everything todays 24 hours news media beg for to give them something to put on CNN and Fox.
I'll be buying this one before the New Year.

It sure has been fun this fall hearing Los Lobos rip into Fats' The Fat Man on their tour with John Mellencamp. I was so glad they added it to their setlist. David Hidalgo always gives a little background on the disc before they play it.

I have this one in the car non-stop since I got it for my birthday....it
s a great little history lesson. My daughter, who is a supervisor at a downtown location of a record chain, now knows who Trombone Shorty is thanks to the track with Lenny Kravitz. She felt rather bright the other day recommending a New Orleans CD to a lady in the store. Just wait until she actually sees Shorty in action -- she's coming to Fest in 09 with me. A great CD....
