...on the internet anyway! Due to a recent familial situmatation, I've gone from a relevant net newbie, to an internet sleuth. As a result, I have come across some really cool tools for researching stuff. I have to share this one with all you TH geeks, and any newbies that would like a history lesson on "The Bored." The site is The Wayback Machine; http://www.archive.org/web/web.php
It's a tool that let's you see the history, and view the past of any website in existance! When I entered the URL of our Beloved Bored, it showed all the past pages, and those through the present incarnation. (I'm sure most of you can see where this is going!) So I had to look. And there, on the second page, in all it's glory, "none."
So, Take the Magic Carpet Ride, and have a blast, but don't forget to come up for air, liquid refreshment and food!
Here's to a new addiction! :D
Drizzle drazzle, drazzle drome, time for this one to come home.

Just found my post after returning from my first fest in 2002 --- notice the "maybe next year" -- HA! -- have been every year since.
I am home from my FIRST trip to Jazzfest, but I am sure it was not my last. Yes, it was very, very hot, but there were lots of neat people sharing ice and misting us. The food lines were not too long and the food was great. Love that crawfish monica, strawberry lemonade, jambalaya. Portojohns were not bad - I have seen much worse - lines were not bad and I even found toilet paper most of the time. And the music ---- it was amazing. Which is what really mattered. See you all again, maybe next year
I couldn't find my first one, but this is damn near. It's from the thread announcing CBH's '04 shirts:

I found my first post too, from 2/25/2002. That's back when I used to run tour buses from Mobile to the Fairgrounds. We've come a long way, babies!

Can't find mine but surely remember it. Just after the 'thing' I was looking for any and all news about the city and Fest. We had already booked for '06 and had quietly decided to still go... Fest or not. I stumbled on to the bored and a thread about how to assist Ms Lena just captivated me. I didn't have a clue who Ms Lena was and had never been in a 'chat room' before but I was just blown away by the obvious caring for this woman and was compelled to respond. I, um, thought that post would be my first and last!
Man, we've shed some tears and a whole lotta laughter since then!

That's a great thread. The profnohair post on there is a classic! And you know the bored hadn't reached middle age yet cause Corona only had 764 posts at the time.

"we tried to cram a 55 gallon drum of jazzfest into a thimble."
That is one wild retelling of a few days at fest...it's like profnohair was sending a post card from a psychedelic dream all the while simultaneously posting to the none thread
Many thanks for this link. I've recovered most of the hockey articles I wrote from '99-'04. I figured these were lost forever.

Nah, that's the pdkk website, which did have a sorta purple board, but it never really took off. The "purple" board was the first jazz fest message board. When the folks on it chatted so much they "broke" it regularily, the PDKK moved over to Delphi Forums, where it lives to this day.

This is not the purple board, as I remember it:

Although there are quite a few threadhead posts from pre-02
Seems like the old link was from nola.com though, but I lost that one a long time ago :(
