Media Event: Monday, Sept. 24, 3:30 p.m.
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation, Inc., will
announce the winners of the 2007 Community Partnership Grants at a media
reception on Sept. 24 at 3:30 p.m. at the Foundation office.
The Foundation is distributing $350,000 to 97 organizations and
individuals for a wide variety of arts and educational projects.
At least 20 of the grant recipients will be on hand and available for
interviews about their projects. A complete list of grant winners will
be made available at the event, and posted online immediately afterward.
Refreshments will be served.
Location: The Foundation office, 1205 N. Rampart Street
(corner of Rampart and Gov. Nicholls).
"This is what Jazz Fest is all about," said D. Joan Rhodes, President of
the Foundation's Board of Directors. "The Foundation is taking the money
raised at Jazz Fest and investing it right back into the community. This
is our mission: to support the arts and education in our community, and
to keep our unique culture alive."
"The number of applications we received is a great indication of just
how many people in our community are working hard to develop cultural
and educational programming," said Don Marshall, the Foundation's
Executive Director. "It gives us great pride that we are able to support
so many worthy projects."
