Man, I f**ked up! Bought tix for the show here without realizing Mrs. O will be gone on a cruise with her sis that week...

Fred, hope you get a visit soon. From the looks of it, you guys in Texas are overdue for an appearance or two. Looks like the last time GOV'T MULE played there was in Austin @ the Backyard in'03, supporting Widespread Panic.
If not, you'll have to grab up that son of yours and head to Tennessee if they're playing Bonnaroo next June!

Yep, we got tix! This is going to be great, just happens to be the same day as the Cat/Griz game (our cross-state football rivalry) -- Montana, though you'll be rooting for the wrong team (haha), you coming down??

ah, too bad, corona. :( But I'm sure being in New Orleans will more than compensate for missing the show. At least you have a good excuse! :D
Wouldn't it be fun if GP&TN would play at CFF? Even though they're not a La.-oriented band, they are kind of a local (read:threadhead) favorite.

So how was the Bob show in Dayton???
Oooo-ui! I am so glad I went! Great show, great crowd! The only negative was the security. Their presence was actually a detriment to the enjoyment of the show.
I sat next to a woman who was doing 12 shows on this tour. She was in Cincy the night before, going to Louisville for tonite, and then onto Chicago for the 3 shows there before heading home. She said she'd been to 500 Dylan shows over the years. At the end, she said, "Now, that was a great show."
I took my daughter & it was her first Dylan show. We had great seats- 6th row center on the aisle, Dylan side of the stage- and she was blown away!
Amos Lee opened and they got the crowd going. They played for about 45-min.
Elvis Costello played a solo-acoustic set and he was cookin'! I have liked him from the beginning, but after last night, I have a newly found respect for him as a performer. He was just excellent!
Dylan was Dylan, of course, and his band is great. He played a mix of old & new. He played more guitar last night than he did the night before in Cincy. I love his bass player! They closed last night with "All Along The Watchtower", a song he has said he didn't think was too powerful until he heard Jimi Hendrix's version.
I guess we can safely say that the sound at The Taft seriously sucks!

Great that at least one of the shows worked! What a shame about the Taft, especially since they are beginning to book a lot of shows. Guess it's a blessing that Neil didn't book there...

Yes, indeed. Consider yourself blessed! Probably the only place worse for acoustics is the CAC! All the charm of a parking garage, but with cushioned seats and a coffered ceiling!
Well, you know what you said about Bonnie & Jackson from a couple of years ago. And I saw Warren Haynes & GOV'T MULE there last November- it was sad really- and the sound sucked worse than a Hoover. I know Warren doesn't suck. I am so glad he is over at The Madison this time! :)

So how was the Bob show in Dayton???
I forgot to add:
1.) Dylan has his Oscar on stage with him during the show.
2.) Both nights, I noticed Dylan smile when he sang the line,"There's a woman on my lap and she's drinking Champagne", from the song "Things Have Changed."
Some guy from Fairfield wrote a pretty scathing report about the Nutter Center in Fairborn, OH, in Bob Links. He was even ticked off that there were only 1500 in attendance. Can't please 'em all, I guess. I was a happy camper after the Taft show!
In his report, the guy mentions the arrangement of "My Back Pages", which was pretty cool. It sounded like "Puff The Magic Dragon", if you can imagine that!

Yes, he is great! He was an unannounced and unscheduled guest this summer at the Blues From The Top Festival in Winter Park, CO.
He happened to be in town, and Walter Trout invited him to play during his set. They traded lots of solos and turned in a fine, smokin' set.
Somehow, the fest had gotten ahead of schedule by about 35 minutes. I think one of the early bands had some tech difficulties. So, Joe B. comes out and plays a 30-min. solo acoustic set. It was awesome.
At the end of the set, I couldn't beleive my eyes. I thought he was going to throw his guitar pick out into the audience, but he didn't. He threw the dang guitar out to the audience!
