I'm guessing it's a Kartina reference,but i've never heard it before.

Never seen so many billboards in Chicago promoting a tv show as those featuring k-ville. On buses, bus stops, along the highway, etc.

But is it good attention, or attention like Nagin said...any attention, good or bad is attention nonetheless....I'm not sure if I'm in for the bad attention part. I'll see after a few more episodes ;)

I think for the most part, it was good attention....hoping they will balance the crime with some good stuff like music, food, culture etc. Fingers crossed....

There was a little Dixieland too. Give it time. I hope local musicians get featured in future episodes.

Well, maybe we can get the Threadhead Nation together to write the production company and Fox to request that more local musicians are used in the show!

Because the jazz musician got gunned down in the first 15 minutes.

BRILLIANT! I found myself looking in the crowds and at the musicians to see if I recognized anyone...it only makes sense and then like Smallville etc they could announce at the end who the featured artist were!!!
One of the only reasons I watched the film Skeleton Key was I was flippin channels and saw ReBirth .....

does anyone have an address to write to in regards to local musicians? Charmaine Neville, Ingrid Lucia or Marva Wright would have made a great Cajah Fontaine.

The closest that I could find is emailing Fox through their website. K-ville also has a message board, but I don't know if anyone from Fox reads that.

Check out this post...the "come hither dust" got her good! :)
I am not from New Orleans, but I wish I was. I first went to New Orleans after leaving a very abusive relationship in February of 2005. It was my first vacation ever on an airplane, and I flew by myself to get there to see my then friend. I had such a wonderful time, and never wanted to leave. Unfortunately, I had to return to work.
Later in 2005, I brought my children for their first vacation away from Minnesota. We went to Florida. You guessed it, we went during the time Katrina was hitting New Orleans, and I was just devistated. We had already planned on returning to New Orleans after my first trip, every year at least once or more if we could afford to.
We returned the week after Mardi Gras in 2006. It was very hard to walk in the areas that I had been in just a year before, and see the damage. It was heartbreaking. We talked to all of the locals to see if there was anywhere we could go to volunteer and help, but we got no where.
Shortly after that, my friend became boyfriend, and we became engaged. We were originally going to get married in the Bahama's, but decided we wanted to get married in the place we love the most, ant that is New Orleans. So back we went in June 2006 and got married in front of the St. Lewis Cathedral. It was beautiful.
There is still a lot of work to be done in New Orleans, and by K-ville being filmed there, I'm hoping it helps brings back the life and soul of New Orleans. There is a lot of different races in New Orleans, but I never felt uncomfortable there. I felt the Southern Hospitality from the first time I've ever went there. People have to remember that although K-ville is based on people going back and rebuilding, that it is also a TV show. It can't all be 100% real, but I think K-ville is going to be a very good show to watch, and I LOVE to be able to see a weekly show that I can recognize streets, resteraunts, businesses, etc. of the place I would be living at in a heartbeat if I could legally move from the state of Minnesota and not get in trouble for taking my kids away from my abusive ex husband.
Until I get to return in February/March of 2008, I will continue to watch K-ville to get my New Orleans fix, and hopefully one day, I will not have to worry about the children, and will be able to move to my favorite place on earth.
