Indoor plumbing is way over-rated.
Just give me a hole in the backyard and a sheet to throw over my head (have to be a little discreet cause of the neighbors) and Im good to go. Literally!

Isn't the term "indoor plumbing" redundant?
Does anyone actually have an outdoor flush toilet?
I have seen them used as part of the hardscape with petunias planted in them, though.

You can't walk more than a block or two around here without finding a house with an outdoor "facility".

near wet the pants readin' this thread,.. then remembered that needy plant outside....
have spent many a night waterin' the back yard,.. with gators no doubt watchin' from the pond... risky business in florida.....
25 years back,.. spent a month travelin' around Greece,.. mostly the islands includin' a for always memorable week on the island of Santorini... there they have this excavation site on the island,.. the ancient city at Akrotiri,.. thought by some to be the lost city of Atlantis for a time,.. where they have unearthed ruins dating back some 3,500 years....
anywho,.. those many, many years ago they had 3rd story plumbin' in that village... 35 centuries later i was poopin' in holes in the ground in a bus station in a major city and in other places around Greece..... talk about progress...............

Sometimes...after festdude has been through his daily constitution...I wish we DID have a separate outdoor facillity....

I'm a holdout. I figure, what good is a toilet in the middle of the night, if I need to light the dam candle to find it?

Well that Depends bwahaha
A year or so ago some friends and I were slurged in town and one of them stopped to use a blue room that was on a construction site. He goes in to do his business and we are walking down the road when we see a trunk pull up to remove it from the site. We all just were laughing as my friend barely made it out before they hoisted it up on the truck. Needless to say, he was pissed off at us (sorry;) )

Well in that case, he'd have been a holdUP, not a holdout . . . ;)

Me too! While staying in Spain our room had one. It didn't have instructions. Yes, I'm laughing while typing. Do you sit on it? or just squat? And which way do you face, towards it or away? :o :D

Has anyone ever used a Bidet?
Royal Suite at the Royal Street Inn (above the R Bar in the Marigny) has a bidet. Nobody in our crew used it when we stayed there, though. (Unfortunately, we had no bidet accidents such as someone dousing themselves, either. :) )

The thought of bidet accidents reminds me of the other end of bathroom sophistication, the trough. Overheard at Wrigley Field Tuesday night: "Daddy, why is everyone peeing in the sink?"

One of my bidet experiences was with a fancy-schmancy toilet my uncle brought home from Japan (he used to go visit there often) . . . it had a built-in bidet function for your complete posterior-al hygene needs. :D
Oh, you Japanese inventors, when will you ever learn?
