Prospect Park to Celebrate the Festa de São Cosme e Damião!
Thursday, September 27th

If you want to play, dance, sing or watch, join us at the 15th Street entrance to Prospect Park at 5pm. Drums, sticks and straps will be provided. Bring kneepads if you want to play surdo!

I saw Dende in nawlins last year, and hes a master...nice guy 2...
jammed with him outside of cafe brazil, with tambourine lady,
and a few others......

Formed in 2002, Hãhãhães is named after the Indian tribe Pataxó-Hãhãhães that once inhabited the city of Salvador in Bahia, Brazil. Lead by master Afro-Brazilian percussionist Dendê, the beat is always central, but it is tempered by thought provoking lyrics and sweet melodies. Comprised of musicians of various backgrounds, the groups’ diversity permeates its music with rhythms ranging from Nigerian Afrobeat to Brazilian Samba to Cuban Pilón.

I used to live on 3rd st. between fifth and sixth avenues, many moons ago..
loved the area....tons of musicians...
noticing theres still lots of good music in the area...
if you can find the time to go to these events it will definitely be worth
your time....
im a percussionist, and Dende is a master....

i wish i could....SOBS used to be my fav club for live music in the city...
there used be a saturday nite show starting at 2am featuring
the NY Samba Connection (not sure of the name)....but there were
like 20 samba drummers on stage...
and between mojitos and the bands energy, people often
danced on the tables....

but its a bit far for me now since im living in florida....

i really hope you and your husband go to sobs....i would love to hear
about the show...
