This should have been called the White Mountain Boogie N White festival because you could have sworn it was going to snow at any minute. Over all the weather was great, but sitting with the temps in the high 60's and a 20 mph wind can be a bit brisk!

This is a great "unknown" local festival. It's held in a big field with the surrounding mountains and has a local family atmosphere to it.

One good part about the festival is that each performer gets to play a full 1 1/2 hour set. The Blues Guitar Women (Foley, Coleman and Potvin) were on for 2 1/2 hours as they mix solo and group sets. There was also a good blend of styles over the two days. We never made it to the Friday night set, but word has it that all but Peter Wolf showed up for the J Giels tribute.

Tab certainly seemed to enjoy himself, bantering and joking with the crowd; even told them to stop making him laugh cuz he couldn't laugh and sing at the same time. He had a rough night though, breaking 4 strings during the set; but he was clearly the highlight of the fest.

Here's a link to pics from the two days. Check out the last one of Tab; that's new to me!

Hey Chas, I had considered going to that fest, but thought it might be just a little nippy up there! Sounds like a nice time though, thanks for putting the pictures up.

We got to see Tab at Chan's that Thursday - where he also took a turn on drums and had everyone practically rolling on the floor with his jokes about pu-pu gumbo and wok'n'bowl. and he loves to make fun of our accents up here, like we're the ones with the accent!

Chan's is a Chinese restaurant in Woonsocket RI where Tab always plays to a sell out crowd....For anyone who might be in the area, he will be there again in Sept:

Lisa, we saw that place when we checked out Tab's site. At first we thought it was a joke, but then seeing how it's been around some 20 years, I guess not. We'll see him again next month in Newmarket.

And your right, it was chilly but mainly because of the wind.

Chas -

I have friends that went and loved it. They wanted me to go with them, but I was already committed to the Chenango Blues Fest.

Did you camp? How was that? Will you do it again next year?

John, no we didn't camp although we talked with others there and they seemed to enjoy it. It's still easy enough staying elsewher and driving (20 - 25 minutes from Lincoln).

As for next year, we'll most likely go. By buying in May, the $36.00 per person was indeed a bargain. As I posted, it's a very relaxed atmosphere with very good talent.
