Another weekend, another great festival. I love festival season.
Opening act was Geoff Achison from Australia. (Know of him, Ozzie?) He's a really good roots/funk guitar player, although he jokes that his Oz accent makes it impossible for his voice to sound funky.

Big Sam's Funky Nation had no trouble sounding funky. Great show. When he sang "Shake Your Moneymaker," I found myself wishing I one to shake. I shook what I had, though.

Janiva Magness was likewise was great. When she leaned back, shouted the blues, played her washboard, and kicked her leg high, I was nearly overcome.:

Rod Piazza and Savoy Brown gave us a wonderful show, especially Rod Piazza. Jump blues at its best.
I learned two new songs at the fest:
"Right Key But Wrong Keyhole"
and
"Cornbread, Butterbeans, And You Across The Table
I'll Eat Beans And Make Love As Long As I Am Able"
Both cracked me up, I tell ya!
Finally, me with a friend and my new hat:
