Very sad news for us San Francisco/Bay Area threadheads (or anyone who has had the pleasure of seeing music at this legendary venue). It's a magical place!
Jon and I were just there last Friday night for Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen. Bonnie Raitt was there for the show and got up on stage and played a few during 2nd set.

How sad! I signed the petition and sent letters to the City Council and building owners. I pray that this will help. Although I've never been to the Sweetwater, I know what I would do if we ever lost some of our musical "institutions" such as this. Good luck to all who are trying to save the Sweetwater!

Thanks Priestboy and Festbabe for signing the petition. :) It looks like people are coming out of the woodwork to keep the place open, somehow someway. And all kinds of rumors are flying around about potential buyers. One rumor I heard yesterday...Sammy Hagar is interested in buying it. We'll see what happens! :)
