It must have been one heck of a party.

Someone broke into the New Orleans Zephyrs baseball stadium in Metairie last week and stole a Coors Light beer truck containing 51 kegs of brew, according to a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office incident report.

A groundskeeper for the team discovered break-in Thursday morning when he arrived at the stadium at 6000 Airline Drive. The thieves made off with the truck, $3,061 worth of beer and more than $10,000 in groundskeeping equipment, the Sheriff's Office report said.

The burglars didn't crack the team's offices, but Zephyrs General Manager Mike Schline called the theft of the beer truck baffling.

"I think everybody thought, 'What kind of idiots did this?' " he said Tuesday. "You would think somebody who was going to break into a place like this would try to be subtle. ... We couldn't believe somebody was leaving the stadium driving a beer truck. I don't know where they thought they were going to go with it."

Not far, as it turned out.

Sheriff's deputies recovered most of the stolen property that afternoon and the next evening within two miles of the stadium, according to Sheriff's Office reports. The beer truck was intact, parked near an abandoned house with the keys in the ignition.

However, only 38 kegs were on board, Schline said.

The Sheriff's Office has not named any suspects in the case. Though the thieves managed to get away with makings for a rather rowdy get-togther, Schline wasn't impressed.

"I don't think we're dealing with the most intelligent criminals in the world," he said.

They were intelligent enough to still have 13 kegs of your beer!

Smart enough to transfer the beer into something the cops weren't looking for!

I think the criminals were slightly smarter then the guy who left the keys with the truck.
I had a friend who used to drive a Coors truck , and used to bring 2 or 3 cases of coors light to all our softball games free of charge. He said at the end of all his deliveries for the day, he would always have between 20 -40 extra cases on his truck at the end of the day due to poor counting at the warehouse. So he would take x amout of cases home ,return the rest and look like a great employee for returning the extras.

Coors light or not I want that freakin job :D

Reminds me of the old joke:

Q: What do American beer and making love in a canoe have in common?

A: They're both phU*king close to water.
