Stanton moore, Ivan Neville, Robert Mercurio and Eric Lindell.

Has anyone seen this band yet?
I know they played during the Fest I believe at least once, was that their only gig or have they played some before?
What are they like? I dig Ivan of course (love dumstaphunk) and have been going to Galactic shows for years but didn't really know what to expect here and would appreciate any comments/feedback as well as any feedback on Eric Lindell who I'm not familiar with.

I have yet to see Dragonsmoke but hear they are da bomb! There are a bunch of us going to it so TH nation will be represented.
I'm sure there are people who can give you more details but it is a deal at 12 bucks.

Amazing. Lindell is a phenomenal blues guitarist/singer/songwriter- he packed the Blues Tent second weekend this year. This group blew the roof off the Boom Boom Room in San Francisco when they came through a year or so ago. If you have any chance to make this show, DO NOT MISS IT!

lol...silly boy....I replied to you on the other thread...I'll try to find it for ya....but yeah, Dragon Smoke has been the BEST show I have EVER seen in New Orleans or other....if you like the hard funkin' funk..this is it brother...

Man, I am sooooo conflicted because I was really planning to see Tab that night at Rock-n-Bowl because I'm going out of town and will miss him this weekend. But I'm not sure I can miss out on this show, so I will most likely be there. Besides, Corona's recommendations are usually not to be ignored!
I just wonder how I'm gonna sneak into Tips with an ice chest full of jello shots. Hmmmm.....

I saw 'em once, Fest '05, back when Dragon Smoke was still at the Dragon's Den. Looking forward to seeing them at Satchmo, but it won't be quite the same in any other venue.

Just bought my ticket. I'm convinced and very excited about this show....and I'd never heard of them prior to this thread; or if I saw the name I didn't know anything about them. Another reason I love this board. And another TH gathering in the middle of summer, with fest still many months away! I am SO ready for another dose of New Orleans....and another vacation! Ninety days or so since JF and I'm getting antsy for some fun:D

Hey, ya'll. Mr. Soul & I caught this show last year on the advice of Ms. Potter. It was the highlight of our trip to the left coast. I would highly recommend seeing them if you enjoy da' funk. You will not regret it!

I noticed that also. Of course, I'm a worrywart. I have though noticed that Tips in the past is not exactly up to the minute with their calendar.

I'm with you on that one. I would have never looked at this venue either. Thanks goodness for the TH nation !!!!! I'll be there.

yeah, tip's calendar isn't up to date but as long as I got a ticket somebody is playing me some music, damnit :D I don't care if they need to break out kazoos and sticks and buckets

If you do not mind them being exposed to the surrounding supplementals in the air, then I would say no. The vibe at Tips has always been very cool. It does say there is an 18+ policy for shows. How teenie is the bopper?

We have our lead Kazoo player ;) You could go by the stage name of Black Shawl...that would definitely force Tangie down to NOLA to make you remove the shawl. :p

Years ago the Petdekatkrewe had a magic bus tour on a daze between. We met in the quarter, drove past a cemetery(we were running late so we couldn't tour), went to the swamp up by middendorfs and had a swamp tour, ended up at abita brewery, where we had a meal and rebirth was supposed to play. Rebirth never showed so we improvised and played glasses, silverware, chairs, shakers came out of backpacks. It was a lovely creation. and having a chartered bus was waaaaayyyyy over the top.
