George was an amazing gift to New Orleans jazz and Frenchman St. I remember when Snug was the only music club on Frenchman. He also founded Port O'Call, don't know if he still owned it or not. RIP George!

Me too. I remember it seemed like Snug Harbor was "way out", because there was nothing else around.

I started going to Snug Harbor way back when I was married, in the 80's, and I have many special memories of the place. Not just the music, but the food has always been top-notch too; underrated in my opinion. I never really got to know George, but I saw him there almost every time I visited. It will be different not seeing him there.

yyr.....the food was excellent....and beautiful pics on the walls
of the injuns......and if you sat by the bar you could see and hear
the band.....they even had it piped outside onto the street..
used to love those free midnite jazzfest shows...

my first trip to NO included a late night session with ellis marsalis at snug harbor and it was then that i knew i'd be coming back for years. snug is my favorite venue and i go back every year for at least 1 show. RIP George and thanks for your creation.

He founded both Snug Harbor and Port O'Call? OMG. My two favorite places on Frenchman. He brought a lot of happiness into my and everybody's world. RIP.

Oh wow, this is sad. I love both of those places and they were truly a must stop for me since the first time I visited them. RIP, Mr. Brumat and thanks for making my New Orleans trips more enjoyable because of your establishments.

RIP George. Love your work and hope that both places live on long past you -- your wonderful legacy & gift to the dear city.

RIP George, I've had many special times in The Snug, hope the family can continue to run it the same great fashion.
