Shamarr just picked the finished product up today and played it over the phone to me song by song :) It friggin smokes!!!!

It's traditional New Orleans music-

Meet Me on Frenchmen St. (original)- Kermit sings it/Shamarr wrote it/trumpet- he nailed this one perfectly. Wait till you hear it...all about Frenchmen St. and New Orleans music! (weren't we just talking about this? lol) I predict that this original is gonna go a looooong way...perfect for tourists =discovering the music scene of Frenchmen St. Man, it's a great tune....actually the whole cd is so upbeat, toe-tapping, finger-snapping,
chair-dancing....I had a smile on my face the whole time. A real feel
good deal...11 songs. I was so happy he didn't put any dirges and other
slow stuff in there...

There's also a tune with him and Irvin Mayfield....they were both amazing...but I loved Shamarr's solo better as I found it more charismatic then the other which was so much more messy jazz-like and busy. Man, Shamarr's playing is so clean and his singing
is great. He has more style each time I hear him....

St. James Infirmary with the Latin beat is really fantastic...best version I've heard of this song.

Then he did a real oldie called Yes Sir...and it's so cool and he sings
great on it....I seriously can't wait until it comes out. I'm also so
proud of Kermit and Irvin for playing with him :) Ran out of time to hear
the tunes with the Hot 8 but looking forward to it..

Aww thanks you guys.....he is going places and I'm so proud of him cuz he's still a youngin'. He just recorded a couple of songs on John Boutte's new cd and he's doing a lot of live work with Paul Sanchez and a recording on Paul's kids album (if i have that right).

He's also been subbing for Kermit with the BBQ Swingers lately too and that's been well received. Shamarr has played Vaughn's a couple of times now and is having a blast. I'd love to see a show with him and Kermit together...that would be cool :)

Do you know the distribution plan? I'd personally be happy to buy one, but I wouldn't leave it at the station. Any plans for radio service. I'd be thrilled to be the first DJ north of the Mason-Dixon line to play it on the air!:cool:

Well, it's not quite finished. Cover artwork is still to be done. And the distribution plan is almost developed. And that's a great idea, blitzz.

lol...okay...he's copywriting it right now...then it has to go into production/distribution...which he wants to do himself..despite being pushed toward Basin and other labels, he wanted to see what he can do independantly through LMF, CdBaby etc. He said we'll be the first ones to know when we can buy them. I'm thinking a couple months still. The artwork for the cover is being done Sunday....so there's still a ways to go but it's gonna be a great when it's out :)

I'm gonna talk to him when he's done with Bob this morning and hopefully will have more info okay Blitzz? Thanks everyone....watching him grow from Rebirth to this has been an amazing journey and so exciting. He can use every bit of support....plus he's our honorary Threadhead remember? We made him that at the Threadhead Patry '07 :D

Yay! I get to spill a secret! Been waiting all freakin day! Well, all freakin month really. Corona is in New Orleans at Shamarr's gig! No one knew she was going down but evilhalf and seebass. They're all gonna be soooooo surprised! WE know you're having large fun, Lis. :DWell . . . I knew actually, Lis had told me and swore me to silence upon pain of death.

It was a GREAT surprise for Miss Jenn and Shamarr! (Hee Hee) :D
