I recieved this e-mail today. Looks like another musician can use some love and support. (Damn, this is getting to be too regular an occurence for my taste.)
" I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, as you may or may not have known, a short time ago Rod Hick's (66 years old, originally of Aretha Franklyn and of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and later with Stevie Wonder and David Sanborn) had his car stolen in Detroit. In the car along with a gamut of personal belongings and a brief case of important papers and documents, was his amp, mics, fishing poles and great deal more--all gone with the car.

To add insult to injury, Rod Hicks, yesterday, was walking back home from the grocery store, minding his own business and humming a song when 3 young boys around 18 years old on bicycles stopped him and began beating him. He made a noble attempt to defend himself, but was held up by gun point, beaten and robbed. His money was taken and he had to have stitches on his eye.

He now will have a hospital bill on top of it. He is scheduled for a hospital visit today.

I am putting out this notice as a call for support for Rod who has had a terrible run of bad luck and could use your support and help.

If anyone would like to send cards, gifts, donations or plain ole simple love...please send to the address listed below.

We hope everyone will chip in and make a small contribution to helping Rod get back on his feet.

Our heart goes out to him.
