I always liked the old '50s B.E.M. (Bug Eyed Monster) movies like; The Thing, Them, Creature From the Black Lagoon, It! The Terror From Outer Space (the original Alien), Earth vs. The Flying Saucers, anything that Ray Harryhausen did.
They all had a kinda hidden anti-war anti-nuke theme.

(hey Mac, I'll bring the popcorn!!)
I'm a huge Hitchcock fan! Who else can make a cornfield on a sunny day into a tense moment?
Didn't he use to coach the Dallas Stars? ;)

A bit of a quirky choice, but I think The Frighteners (with Michael J. Fox) is a good horror/comedy movie.

Have you seen Angel Heart, by Alan Parker? Released in 1987, it starred Mickey Rourke, Robert de Niro, Lisa Bonet, Charlotte Rampling and Brownie McGhee. Originally X-rated, the film was edited to achieve an R-rating status.
Creeped me out for days.

The ultimate, Psycho is a fave. Yep, ya'll are right, Hitchcock is the master. Bound is good for tense, sexy girl on girl action....
Duel w/Dennis Weaver is an oldy but a goody.
Blue Velvet, anything by David Lynch, actually. I always like Deliverance for freaking me out about camping....

Any speech by George W. qualifies in my book. But if you're talking fiction..... "8mm" with Nicholas Cage bugged me for days after I saw it.

w's speeches are fiction, aren't they? What about that one where the couple lives on the beach and he abuses her. And she can't swim but secretly takes lessons and swims away. title escapes me.

Hey funkky, you're talking about "Sleeping with the Enemy" with Julia Roberts. There was a movie several years ago, I think Brad Pitt was in it. It was called "Seven" and it was super creepy and nasty, from what I can remember.

Eee-yew! I think that Mr. Brad Pitt, in and of himself, is creepy and nasty. I don't mean to offend any of his fans. If he makes you glad, then I am glad for you.
But, just looking at him...he makes me want to start scratching! Yechhh!
He's almost as creepy as Tom Cruise. Another one I can't stand is Russell Crowe. He looks like a Bassett Hound!
Not to be completely negative, I like Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Denzil Washington, Harry Dean Stanton, Viggo Mortensen, and Harrison Ford, even though he's getting some mileage on him!

A recent movie, "Shaun of the Dead" is another in the horro/comedy vein. I like my humour really black, apparently.

It might be fun to screen a series of Frankenstein movies. Starting with the Lon Chaney original. Then, the Bride Of Frankenstein , with Elsa, followed by Andy Warhol's 3-D version. Wrap it up with Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein( pronounced Fronk-en-steen!).
The "B" genre of horror films are always a hoot. How about I Was A Teenage Werewolf, starring a young Michael Landon? Can't forget The Blob, with a young Steve McQueen.
Then there's Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes! Have to mention Last House On The Left, produced by the same folks who brought us Don't Look In The Basement , with Sam, ("You stole my boat. You killed Dr. Stevens. You bad."), the unforgettable, homicidal giant.
To Kill A Mockingbird is Hallowe'een related because the the crux of the plot rests on Scout and Jem's desire to meet their reclusive neighbor, Boo Radley ( Robert Duvall), and they finally achieve their mission on one dark October night.

New Orleans' own, Morgus the Magnificent, is planning to release a DVD later this fall.
In the meantime, he's on Channel 10 on Cox on Fridays, with a repeat on Sundays, for the 13-week period that began on 6 October. Check your local programming guide for times.

I remember Morgus -- he was a big deal in Detroit in the mid-sixties.

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is a classic! Right up there with Plan 9 from Outer Space and The Blob. And The Shining is definitely a good one; that movie totally creeps me out. What about The Lost Boys? I love that movie.
I hope Morgus still has Chopsley!!!

I'm definitely NOT the one to ask. I don't like to be scared. May me laugh, make me cry but don't make me terrified.
I won't even sit in the same room with "Silence of the Lambs"...

I live alone so no terrifying stuff for me! I tried watching "Signs", because I'd seen it before and thought 'oh I won't get scared'..nevermind, changed the station.
My TV is mostly on Sprout TV station for my grandson. I think the Teletubbies are odd, they act and move like they are on mushrooms!

Oooh, Joey! It won't be long and you can intoduce him to the Imagination Movers. (My NO hostess' brother-(not quite)in-law is in that group.)
At least their music is easier to listen to.

A old favorite Hitchcock classic is Rebecca. Haven't we all been haunted by exes or first wives? This one's a black & white psychological thriller supreme.
