Oh man Robbie! Wish I were there!!!

I also wish you could be there, or here. They only let the band play one song for the air. But, most bands play one more for the audience. I just hope this will help them out with some air time. You can see it that night. I'll let you know what another song they play.

Lis that's why we have vcr's :)....
They only did one song Yellow Moon but Tamborine is on the Tonight show web site if anyone wants to catch it. Cyril had to get a Katrina comment in "the music don't ever stop at least before Katrina" ??
It is a little wierd too cause they look a little "stiff" not at all like when you are at a real Nevs show.
and yes ya'll even if he wasn't wearing tie dye that was Mean Willie Green on drums.

Yellow Moon is co-credited to Joel Roux, Aaron's wife.

Aaron says he wrote it at a time when they were apart, she was on a cruise or something, and he was thinking about her a lot, wondering what she was up to....

Of course yall know she passed away early this year.

Besides being the title track of what is arguably their best studio album, it gives me goose bumps when I hear it now.

May she rest in peace, and may Aaron find strength and peace of mind through his family and friends. Especially in his brothers.

maybe that's why it is such a mezmerizing song. that's really sad.

Let me just say I've always loved the Neville's. I always thought it's just so cool that they are still playing music as four brothers from New Orleans, and no one can sound like them. The night before the show I got a call that 6 young people (Lakota Sioux) were in town and needed something to do. So I was able to get tickets for them to see the show, and they had the greatest time. Now, they are new Neville Brothers Fans. Most of them have never been out of South Dakota, so it made it even more special for them to see the show up close and be in front for the Neville's. I was able to get off work just in time to stand with them to see the Neville's perform. Yellow Moon and Tambourine sounded good to me, but the crowd is there to see John Travota. Most people at that show are into Scientology, so I don't think the Neville's could really get into it with that crowd and also just two songs.
Cyril, Aaron, Charles and Art looked in good health. Art walked to center stage for the closing Promo. I talked a little to Cyril and he seemed in good spirits. All in all it may have sounded a little stiff to some, but for me it was the Neville's Brothers still Rock'in with big smiles. Also 6 Kids from the Pine Ridge Reservation had the time of their life's.

thanx for the report!!! I freaking fell asleep but it was nice to come here and get info. Too bad The Nevilles felt the vibe ... I used to like John Travolta but he's a little "off" ... I guess I'm biased though, I was born & raised in Clearwater FL ... scientology "headquarters" and watched my little town get overtaken by this weird religion/cult/ belief whatever it is ... it's strange to me and I can only imagine the "stiff" crowd the show produced .... judging from the drone-like lookalike figures that walk around downtown Clearwater ... blech! No offense any scientologists out there ... sorry was that negativity?

Glad you could enjoy them though and wheeee! New fans! *claps*

THAT IS SO AWESOME!!! As a hard core member of the Neville Nation I enjoyed it for sure, and mostly appreciate the fact that there is additional content on the tonight show website. My comment wasn't a criticism just an observation, mostly on how after 30 years they still seem to so feel the vibe of a crowd and the performances always seem to reflect it. I once saw them here in Ct at the casino and the floor seats where all occuppied by high rollers etc who really could have cared less who they were seeing ..it was the strangest Nevs show I have ever been to The Brothers kept on playing seamlessly but were exchanging looks that said lets get outa here these people don't like us much ....fortunately the next night they made the floor available to the real folk and we rocked the place. I am sure Cyrill thought you bringin those special new fans was super cool too. Thanks for the uplifting story

Just watched the recording, it was pretty good- those late night musical guests are always jammed in at the very end of the show. Robbie, its so nice of you to take those kids to the show!

Thanks Joe and Lisa,

It's always fun to see music with friends, and especially new friends. These kids are so appreciative of anything. Most of them said they thought they would never get out of South Dakota. So, yea it made it real cool.

Bless your heart for what you did for the kids from Pine Ridge. It's kind of ironic how you brought the Indians to the Nevs, when their uncle was Big Chief Jolly of the Wild Tchoupitoulas. Very sweet!!!

Oh Yea! It was cool. I told them the story I was told of the Mardi Gras Indians in New Orleans, and how they came about because they were imitating American Indians, and how they thought they had magical powers. The Kids loved the story and later asked me more questions about it. I said "I believe Jazz and all contemporary American music came from this beginning.
