Another wonderful night of music at Fitzgerald's. Met several great people that love New Orleans as I do, as we all do. It is amazing the connections, when left to its own design, that music creates. God bless us one and all :)

Nice. Very nice. Same thing happened to me at Kenny Brown's Picnic last weekend. I had on a jazzfest shirt and 5 different people who love New Orleans and the jazzfest stopped me for a visit. (I was handing out trashbags.)

Those shirts are amazing. I have worn my favorite several times and always get comments or stopped for a conversation. Never mind it because folks want to go but still wonder what NO is like these days. Gotta get the word out in anyway we can huh?

Willie Porter, Robbie Fulks, and Tributosarus, which is a band that becomes a new band each month. Last night the were The Band. All of those bands have good energy. Also saw some of Jeff & Vida, Hayes Carl, and Little Charlie and the Nightcaps.
Also had some good BBQ and talked a while about rebuilding New Orleans with one of Jonny's friends.

True dat, Huck!!
I saw several peeps at the Kate Wolf Memorial Music Festival this past weekend (which featured a tremendous set by our beloved Martha Ball ;)) with Jazzfest shirts on and it was great to give them a smile and sparkling eye of recognition for fellow NOLA music lovers. :)

We were able to see Marcia on Saturday evening along with Beausoleil. Sweetness!
Going to head back outside to check on the ribs. Yum!

I was there on Saturday for Terrance, Sleepy, Beausoleil and some of Marcia Ball's set. I always knew that Michael Doucet was a talented musician but wow, I was blown away by his vocals! Goosebumps!
What a special evening. Aside from the great music and dancing, I was surprised to see a family I've gotten to know at fest that are NOLA natives now living in Houston. My friend Kitty convinced them to drive up for the festival.
I'm sorry I missed all the threadheads. I saw several shirts and I should have opened my big mouth. I brought a jazz fest shirt with me to town but it was a little on the cool side (guess it wasn't too cool, the summer shandys were going down well!) to wear it on Saturday. I was hoping the fleur de lis ears and the Cubs temporary tatty! would have did the trick.
Hope I'll be in town for Sonny on the 27th!
