i was surprised that fqf had higher attendance than jazzfest....and fqf
is only 3 days..??

(AP) — The Essence Music Festival July 5-7 promises to be another in a string of events that have brought visitors back to New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina.

Event Estimated Attendance:

• Essence Music Festival (July 2007): 200,000


• New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival (April/May 2007):375,000

• French Quarter Festival (April 2007): 425,000

• Mardi Gras (February 2007): 800,000

Its free. And it covers the entire Quarter. And it is an estimate since there are no gates, fences, etc. Who knows?

That seems odd to me too, Bro. Since there are no ticketed gates, how can that be verifiable?

I do know that it was very crowded everywhere in the quarter that weekend. And it was quite a sea of humanity at times from Jackson Square thru to all three stages in Woldenberg park. The Mint had more than a few folks too. But however many, it was a very good vibe.

it was a real good vibe..weather was great...it got real crowded at woldenberg
at times, so i headed for the smaller stages on royal and bourbon...
great vibe there as well...
