It's pledge week here in NYC and tonight they are showing a Tribute to James Taylor. I imagine it's pledge week all over so check your local PBS station to see when they are showing it.
One helluva line up. David Crosby, Sheryl Crow, and Jackson Browne, India Arie, Jerry Douglas and Allison Krauss, Sting, Dr. John and Taj Mahal, Keith Urban, Bonnie Raitt, Bruuuuce, Carole King, and of course James Taylor himself, That's just what I saw, I tuned in late.
The man has written some great, great songs and everybody does them justice.

I read this post and wondered to myself: "what the hell does James Taylor have to do with Porter, Bautiste, and Stoltz?"

ScoopD,
George Porter and the Running Partners (Jon Gros!!!) are booked for two nights, January 12th & 13th at Mexicali Blues in Teaneck. Following week the Rads are there for one night (boo! I planning to out of town).

Well this has got to be THE fastest I've ever seen a thread fly off the rails.

We only have two trains a day that impact on my driving route... one going up the mountain, and then the same one coming back. Managed to bloody jag a wait at the crossing both times today!

I was thinking more of "Rock Island Line" by Johnny Cash myself.

Holy crap... I did a search for "I hear the train a coming..." and now I can't get the tune off my computer. I swear everything is shut down except for this bored and it just keeps going on and on... I'm not stuck in prison! Really, I'm NOT!

I'm aware that this is totally off-topic, but did anyone see that James Taylor tribute show?

Hmm, you know, we saw them in concert this summer and while they were good, it was kind of overrehearsed and not as good as I expected. Guess I shouldn't say that them being San Fran boys and all, but not sure I'd go see another show . . .

One more thing........
'Train Kept a Rollin' - Johnny Burnette and the Rock n Roll Trio, or the Yardbirds, or Aerosmith.

I'm sorry...Amy and John for that matter...a failed attempt at bad humor seeing that we were really off topic! I should probably stick to lurking but I'm just too damn excited about next year's fest.
I was at work and my assistant Ellie came to my desk as I was reading this thread. She saw the comment about train songs and thought it was about the group Train, which I found amusing (especially being 20+ years older).
Good thing 60 is the new 40.
I saw Train in Chicago not too long ago and yes, nice to listen to but a little on the slick side.

MWGirl, don't worry about being off topic (or anything else) -- just post away!! My attempts at humor are always pretty lame, what can ya do? ;)

Isn't there some mention of train tracks in Janie's Got a Gun? Hmm . . .

I think my favorite Trane song is still "My Favorite Things", with that long McCoy Tyner piano solo. Love that piece.

MWGirl......no need to apologize, and definitely don't go back to lurking. Drifting off topic is one of the keys to classic threads, and this one is fun so far, so hop back on board
On board? Train? Get it?............
(scoop doubled over in laughter)
Stop, I'm killing me!!!

Scoop, you're killing me too!
The new board has yet to generate that first "classic" thread, eh? We've got to get working on that ;)
