I'm lookin' for anyone who caught this set in the Gospel tent. My Lord....that 40 minute set made more of an impact on me than all the church I've attended over the last 42 years of my life. Mr. Soul kept talkin' about how hot it was in the tent, and I kept thinkin', "Yeah, but I got goose bumps all over me!!!" I went by the live recordings tent in hopes that I could get my hands on a copy of the set. They informed me that they didn't record it. I thought for sure when the show was over they mentioned it being recorded. If any of you know how I might get a copy of the set, I'd be really grateful.

Csoul, was right there fifth row from the front... and I'm still feeling it. It was so worth the hour I spent camped in that chair till it started. I know it was definately filmed as the camera seemed like it was gonna bash into my head a couple of time... but do not think it was recorded for the Live Recordings... I hope I'm wrong. Two years ago, the Tribute to Sister Rossetta Tharpe was not made available and I always thought that was such a huge oversight but this one would be worse.

Anyway, when I get my pictures uploaded I'll post 'em... think I got some good ones.

I couldn't get in the tent because of the huge crowd...but it sounded absolutely fantastic from just outside the tent. A real highlight for me.

Steeleye - nice meetin' ya' this weekend. Irma was FABULOUS. I think they'll be talkin' about it in the years to come. Lucky me, I was there for 2 shows before Irma. The night before was a ruff one for me, so when we got to the fairgrounds, I bought a bottle of water and headed straight for the tent where I could sit down. I figured after my night out, I could use a little "church". We were FRONT ROW!!!!! About 30 minutes before her start, that place got packed. People were frantic to get a spot. Security was moving people out of the aisles. It was a little insane. Some lady actually asked me if she could have my seat "Just for this set"......"Um,,,,,HELLO!!!!"

I couldn't get in either. I had a photo pit pass, and Irma's performance was the only one in all JF that I couldn't get in to. The energy coming out of that tent was amazing.

The Mahalia Jackson tribute was shown on the ATT Blueroom webcast (http://blueroom.att.com/events/jazzfest.php)on Sunday. This was great for off-site Irma lovers as they also showed her set from first weekend and Bonnie Raitt's set with Irma sitting in. Hopefully when the archives are available (http://blueroom.att.com/inc_event_mediaplayer/index.php), they will include Irma in the gospel tent.

Thanks, Mich. I guess that'll have to do for now. I'd really love to have the whole show to listen to over & over. It is hard to describe the heart & soul she put into that show if you weren't there to feel it. She actually had to mop away her tears after one of the songs. Unbelievable how she "felt" what she was singing.

Yeah, we're a little crispy, too. But it was all worth it. I can't tell ya' how disappointed I was with Joss Stone. I swear she played like 35 minutes. When she went off stage, everyone was lookin' at each other, like "Where the hell is she goin'"....Then we got to Acura for Harry, and Mr. Soul asked the couple in front of us how Steely Dan was and they told him it was awesome, a greatest hits show, one hit after another, yada, yada, yada. He'll never let me pick the shows again. Harry was hot, though. He's ALL THAT, and then a little bit extra, just for good measure!

My wife and I had great seats for Irma in the front row of the second section. It was crazy how many people were jammed in that tent, you couldn't leave if you wanted to...but who would want to? She was amazing, definitely one of the highlites of the weekend.

Csoul,

Irma moved me as well. My first nephew, one month old, is in the ICU right now and when she sang the verse "He's got the little bitty baby" of He's Got the Whole World in His Hands, I was in tears.

Definitely in my top three for the w-end.

Good Lord....goose bumps all over again, sauce. I was just moved, completely, by her from start to finish! And, yes, He does "have the little bitty baby, in his hands". I hope your nephew is well soon. Keep us posted. CAN ANYONE GET ME A COPY OF THIS SET!!!!!

I'm glad to have been there, but this needs to be out there for the world to hear.

The ATTBlueroom schedule in the NOLA listing doesn't make sense to me. Did they just carry 5 minutes of Irma? And 3 minutes of Johnny Rivers?

I remember one song from Johnny Rivers and about 45 minutes of Irma. Other people that watched may need to verify this.

On one of the threads (I can't find it), someone mentioned that they should have come to my booth to hear Irma. She was fantastic! The crowds were huge...all the way back to our booth
Here's a shot of Mrs. RT working her butt off while I'm messing around with my camera during Irma's set.

Mark, if you look at the person in the blue shirt at the top left of the stands just inside the tent, and count 47 people directly ahead of that person toward the front, there are Mrs. Atpontchartrain and me. Finally a treasured pic of us at the fest! Thanks!
