Well JazzFest is over and I am going through Threadhead withdrawls!!! Preparing for Fest and Rosetreefest was a big undertaking for me and Brenda the last few weeks and now they are over.
Rosetreefest was a fantastic sucess for us, not just monetarily, but it gave us a chance to visit with the Threadheads who came by. Now Brenda won't give me "the look" as much after she found out what a sharing and caring group that y'all are.
Jazz Fest was an even bigger sucess...best show I have had in 26 years!!!... even after losing a day to the r**n and I think a lot of that has to do with the Threadhead Nation, and I want to personally thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I have been on this bored for a little over a year, and you can tell by my number of posts that I'm on it a lot! I'm on it because I have found a group of people who have huge hearts and care about the world around them, especially my beloved New Orleans. The amount of work done by the Threadheads leading up to the Fest, and during the Fest is inspiring...volunteer hours, the raffle, the Patry, Ms. Lena's...You people party H..A...R...D, but you give back just as hard! I met people, in person, this past two weeks who I feel will be my friends for a long time to come. I spent the whole weekend waiting for another person to walk up and introduce themselves to me by their Threadhead name. It was a wonderful feeling.
I just wanted to let you know, and I'll try to let the "Nation" know what is going on here!
(((((((Threadhead Nation))))))
btw, Barb- I'm writing this while drinking a Fitz's RB mmm, mmmm Thanks

Hey Mark (or is it Jim?) Let's us locals stay in touch. We really love your work, and once we're unpacked, and figure out where we might have room to put something, you'll be seeing us. Sam loved that blue/green swirl vase, and she usually get what she wants;) We'll see you and Brenda soon.

I LOVE your MOM!!! and Brenda... I really enjoyed talking with her and being there, watching you create your art and being so awe struck and loving so many of those beautiful pieces, I don't remember which vase John finally let me pick, but I did get a bunch of the fan pulls for all the family... little Christmas gifts from the dog actually, he always trys to buy them all a nice, unique little gift and the pulls were perfect! LOL when I finally get around to redoing my kitchen, I need two of the small hanging lamps for each side of my sink. Now I know just who can help me with those! I can't believe we got that phone call from a friend/client who lived in the same apartment complex you did across from Tyler! Talk about a small world, eh? I really enjoyed myself, and I know John did, too. I'm really glad you had us all over, and I went to Carr's and got TWO tubes of the magic lip balm for my daughters! I told them YOU sent me.
Yeah, it's great when your family of friends are around, isn't it?
hugs to you and Brenda... love ya, bro!

Can someone enlighten me as to what a ceiling fan pull is. Thanks.
I have ceiling fans in almost every room in my house and the only time I can imagine a 'ceiling fan pull' is when someone is swinging from one.... usually whilst calling out "G-e-r-o-n-i-m-o-o-o-o-o". But that's just in our house. :D

Haven't made it yet. The swimp are thawing. Walmart totally fokked with my head today. Had me straight tripping, boo. They've gone and changed it all around COMPLETELY. And it's just stupid where they have everything. It doesn't even look good and it's not efficient. Waaaaaaah!
The upside is they have a lot more registers open and no long lines. My register didn't have ANY line.
So now I'm resting. ;)

Rosetreefest was definitely a highlight of my fest this year. Sorry I didn't get a chance to pick any pieces up but will definitely do so if you are in town for festgiving. Everything is soooo beautiful and the demo was very cool.

My daughter asked for a piece of art from New Orleans as a wedding present - so what better than a piece from Rosetree. This is what I picked for her -- can't wait for my stuff to arrive.

MarienaThanks. I knew the colors would go perfectly in that room. I'm gonna raise the picture to better highlight the vase. Patti picked the other one- it doesn't match our decor especially, but it's just so pretty!

the walmart by work is doing a complete remodel - i will have to relearn the store. i guess they're going Walgreens. all stores will have the same stuff in the same place.
but they also added self serve checkouts. really fast for one item - except i had to get an override because you have to be 18 to buy cold medicine. off the shelf stuff, not the stuff they keep behind the counters now cause some people cook with it.

Thank God they left the food side alone.

(((((((Threadhead Nation))))))
btw, Barb- I'm writing this while drinking a Fitz's RB mmm, mmmm Thanks
glad you're enjoying your 'beer'. its even better on tap, in case you ever make it this far north. Fritz's has a whole restaurant on Delmar (in the loop). they have burgers, etc, and an ice cream fountain. best rootbeer floats around.
so if i have glass sent to me, can you also stuff the box with one of those muffaleta's? they were so yummy, can't remember ever having a better one. name of place again?
for those of you who missed the glass blowing demo's, add it to your list for next visit. very interesting and beautiful. and mysterious. how did you turn the brown glass blue?

MRG: I keep saying this, but it really was our pleasure to have all of you over for Rosetreefest! It gave us a chance to meet a buch of Threadheads in a nice setting, sharing some good food and drink, and just being able to "visit" for a while.
We are really looking forward to having this every year and becoming an important component to the "Threadhead experience" in New Orleans during Jazz Fest.:D

Barb:
The muffelattas were from Dimartino's. They are the best! BTW, Brenda pointed out to me that they are the ones with the muffelattas at the Fest.
Some glass change color when you heat them and then change back when they cool. Yellow for example is a dark brown until it gets cooled off. There is also a color shift when we are working---orange/red while we are working and the glass is hot. It's something that you learn to distinguish as you learn to blow glass!
...only got one more Fitz's left. Thanks again for thinking of me.;)

i usually dont get them at the fest, because they're easily obtained anywhere - even in st. louis. but now that i know they're the best.....
maybe we can do an exchange. i'll send you fritz's, you send me muffelattas. they also make a yummy cream soda. the shipping would be way more than the product prices. i'll bring you more next visit (hopefully this fall/winter).
say want you want about the glass color - i still think its witchcraft.
