Hope this isn't a duplicate of another thread...

I'm wondering what suggestions y'all have for going straight from the fest to the airport. I so desperately want to catch the last acts on sunday but have no idea what to do with my luggage! I'd hate to have to leave early to go back to the hotel for luggage. Ideas???? Please help!!!

Thanks & see y'all soon fellow festers!!!!

You're probably going to have to go back to your hotel for your bags. Sorry.
Oh, make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to do the trip to the hotel and the airport.

In some past years, when leaving straight from the Fest, I would rent a car downtown on Sunday morning, with an airport dropoff. Pre-K, that would cost about $30 (not sure of rates now, especailly last minute), and the taxes are a lot lower when picking up downtown vs the airport. Get the car, get your bags, stash 'em in the trunk, and drive to Fest. Cost of car, plus parking near the Fest, plus a coupl of gallons of gas, all didn't come to any more than cabs would have, and the extra hour of Fest? As they say, priceless.

Plan B, more hassle and more cost, is tale your bags to the airport on Sunday morning, and get checked in with the airline and bags checked then. They should be ok, but if not, thre's also a manned bag storage facility on the lower level by claim #6. Then cab to the Fest, and cab from Fest straight to MSY.

Plan C - hook up with somebody who parks right outside of the fest gate (me) and will let you have a key to the car. you leave, grab you luggage, and lock the keys in the car (i will use my extra set), or leave them with our parking goddess. if its early enough, you may be able to get a cab to pick you up closer than the official areas. or parking goddess may know someone who will run you to the airport faster & cheaper than a cab.

Hi Gabriel,

Are you planning to go directly from the airport to the festival? The usual challenge with that is your luggage; there's nowhere at the fest to check a bag, and you may not want to lug your bag around all day. If you are traveling light and will go directly, the easiest way would be a taxi. The other choice would be a rental car, which solves the bag storage problem, but parking near the festival can be a challenge.

Here's general info about transportation from the airport to downtown:

Hi swag!

My luggage will stay at my hotel in Kissimmee, I think that I can take a flight from Orlando to MSY at morning of May 07 and take a flight back at morning of May 08. Do you know what time the show ends?

The last bands are scheduled to end at 7:00; on the final Sunday, they sometimes play to as late as 7:15. If you stay till the end, to play it safe, figure in a cab by 8:00, at the airport around 8:30. What time is the last flight back to Orlando?

What time the shows begin? Do you if the Strokes is the last band? How is cab services near the festival venue, it's simple to get one?

Tks,
Gabriel

Well, the Strokes are playing Saturday, not Sunday, so maybe the timing won't matter.

After Fest, getting a cab is simple, but not always quick. There are two cab stands where people line up; it's illegal for the cabs to pick up anywhere else. A typical wait in the cab line at the end of the day is probably 20-30 minutes, on the very busiest days at peak times it can take an hour.

Plan D- I've packed up everything and dropped it at the post office or UPS a day or so in advance. then all you have to schlep around in the what you need for Sat. night Sunday is a small backpack.
Also works in reverse, mail the luggage to the hotel or I've had United cab deliver my luggage to the hotel while I went to Fest. Prearrange this with the hotel. They may even ship it for you afterwards.
