Best Western St. Christopher canceled our 1st night, Thurs. May 3. And they said they are overbooked for the entire weekend. This is crazy . 2 days before we arrive they are emailing us a cancellation.
They are trying to relocate us to another hotel but so far they wanted to put us in Gretna. That is unexceptable we were just off canal and now they want to move us out to Gretna. I don't think so.
We are working with the GM. Hopefully they will find us something in the area.
We originally purchased this through priceline, Although the overbooking was Best Westerns fault.
If anyone is staying here check you emails for cancelations.

Chicago, that just down right SUX!!! Give 'em hell, and keep us posted. Mr. Soul is a VERY frequent traveller with the Hilton properties. He sometimes has a little pull and if push comes to shove may be able to get a room at one of their hotels in town. Can't guarantee what the price will be, but it will be a place to stay if the other place doesn't make it right for ya'.

chicago...I am about to cancel a reservation at the Hampton Garden District...very nice hotel, free on site parking, hot breakfast included. We got resies at another Hilton property on the river, so letting this one go...if you need info, let me know...I will wait about an hour before canceling to see if you respond.

The main problem is that we have 3 rooms and all 3 have been canceled. We have been working with the hotel but so far no progress. Priceline tells us it's the hotel fault for overbooking and that the hotel is responible for getting us a new room and incurring any extra cost. It is wait and see at this point.
We booked this months ago I believe in Dec or Jan.
Thanks for all the info. I will keep on the GM. I'm sure it will all work out. I hope, I hope, I hope. Any info or ideas for dealing with these people will be appreciated.
Thanks

I had called earlier in the week to confirm and everything was A-ok. Then we get an email today "Your hotel for Thurs. May 3rd has been refunded" from priceline. Gee, thanks for the refund but i got no place to stay.
After much quibbling with the Hotel and Priceline, they both blame each other, we may be close to resolution. I am expecting a call back real soon. With some good news hopefully.

ChiFest, I have a beautiful one bedroom condo that sleeps 6 located on Chartres and Canal, and it is booked from the 4th to the 11th. (Friday to Friday) I'm staying there by myself (uh, unless I receive any interesting offers), and I'm leaving on the 9th, but I might be able to accommodate a couple of people...provided they're not felons, riffraff or nogoodnicks. (Riffraff with references might be okay.)

If you're really stuck and in need, drop me a line at contactross at rogers dot com and we'll work something out, okay? I'm dedicated to wiping out fest homelessness... :>)

Ross you rock! Thats an incredibly generous offer but I think we got it all worked out. Besides I am traveling with a couple of nogoodncks, riffraff without references, and my wife is a convicted felon. I'm the only normal one in the group.
Here's what happened...
We get an email early this morning from priceline stating that all 3 of our rooms for Thurs have been canceled because the Best Western Overbooked.
We freak out and start calling to see what can be done.
Priceline says it Bestwesterns fault, and they can do nothing to fix it.
After talking to The GM at the Bestwestern he informs us that they are overbooked for our entire stay and that priceline will refund all our money. This does not help us because we still have no where to stay. The GM then
says they will pay for a room at a nearby hotel for the first night , but we will have to pay the regular rate for the additional 3 nights.
I told him this is unexceptable.
After 4.5 hours of 3 of us calling Bestwestern reservation, the GM, and priceline to get some info, the GM finally called us back and explained that he had manually gone through all the reservations, cancelations, and available rooms and he came up with 4 extra rooms. 3 of which have now been reserved for us.
BTW Thanks Barb for letting me know about the cancelations, I mentioned to the GM to look into this.
So in the long run it was really much to do about nothing. We still have the rooms at the original hotel. They just caused me to freak out and miss about a 1/2 day of work on the phone.
Thanks to all for the Karma and information and Thanks again to Ross for his generous offer.
Hey Ross were only a block away from each other, We should meet up for a drink. It's on me.
BTW - I know a couple of other Threadheads were staying at the St. Christopher 2nd weekend. Please check your ressies. I would hate for anyone to get shut out.

Chicago, I told you I had a feeling it would work out really good. Do you still have to pay? If they had any decency, they would comp them for you. Or at least one of them!
