Very glad I left early. Mob scene was a bit much at Acura. I figured with that and Nora Jones appearing at same time, wait time for bus would be huge, and from what I heard next day, it was.

I will do same next weekend if crowd is as large. I had no wait for bus' left about 15 minutes after start of Rod's act.

Taxis were just as bad. We left about 20 minutes early on Sat night. After an 1 1/2 hour wait, they started bringing city buses to the FQ. The transportation system simply cannot handle the Sat. crowd leaving.

We had a long wait for a cab on Sat but no longer than you would expect AND we got to chat with Cisco which was a treat.

All in all we thought the crowd for cabs was dealt with really well. On Sunday we got a bus which was a real treat... it was quick and the driver played all his fave tunes! It's Fest and it's fun!!!!

YES! Great attitude. I would normally be at Liuzza's until late so we rarely have a problem. I can't wait to hug my Ozzie in Nola. Thanks for the pic of you and Mem together! That made my day!

I am happy to report we had a very short wait for a ride to the quarter. Didn't do the cab line, just walked off the beaten track a short bit, stuck up the hubby's cane and we were off. Lucky first time festers I guess. It is all good on this chicks head. God I love life!

I read on blogging new orleans that tickets sold out on Saturday. That's not true is it? I didn't get the impression from reading posts that it was anywhere near the infamous 160,000 back in 2001. There comes a point - and it is much less than 160,00 - when it is just too crowed, for me anyway.

Next year hunny. I met so many and yet so few. Y'all have a great time this week and next weekend. You will be on my mind. Guess much else won't be until I come back again. Fest is very addictive as you know.

On Friday we took the streetcar back to the Quarter and there was hardly any line. We could have stood on the first car when we got there but waited for the second for a seat.

Frosty, where do you catch this streetcar?

In 10+ years of Festing, I still don't have an iron clad plan! I usually head over to Liuzza's, hang out for a while and split a cab with one of the many familiar faces I see.

Last year I ran into some really good friends of mine from Toronto at Liuzza's and they offered me a ride in their van. On the way to their van, we heard a wonderful noise coming from a backyard and decided to check it out. It was a fantastic backyard keg party, complete with live entertainment from one of NOLA's best kept secrets: "Juice"!

Still, on those days when you just have to get back to the condo to scrape off that racetrack funk, you can't go wrong with a reliable easy-to-access streetcar or bus!

Right at Esplanade and Carrollton, across from the main entrance to City Park. It's only a couple of blocks from Liuzzas and turns at Canal to run to the Quarter. I wish we'd have known about it our first year there since it's much cheaper than the Sheraton Bus. And a nicer ride.

On Saturday - just hang a little longer at Liuzza's - its such a good vibe and then there isn't much of a line for cab's or busses.

We left Fest at 7:15 on Saturday, out the Mystery exit to the Esplanade cab stand. Despite all the traffic on Esplanade, and having to make several stops, I was in my hotel by 8:30. I'd guess 40 to get a cab, 30-40 for the drive.

Jazzfest never sells out (of tickets that is).

I had no problem getting back on the city bus this year. Stayed at Liuzzas for about 45 min each day and walked over a waiting bus each time. They have buses that run down Canal this year, which was a little closer walk to my hotel than getting off on Rampart.
Funny story...we were walking up to Rampart last Friday to catch the bus, and I look to my left and here comes the bus down one of the streets of the Quarter! I waved it down and got on. They were avoiding a wreck on Rampart, but all the folks on there were joking about how we got door-to door service. :D

I hadn't heard that, but it was awfully crowded on Saturday, almost uncomfortably so.

We left early, yet still waited the longest we've ever waited for a cab -- about an hour at the Olive Stallings Park cab line.
