If you're able to exchange your timeshare for fest, you'll have to let me know how you did it Gumbo. RCI? I've tried every year and can never get an exchange in NOLA at fest time . . .

Looks really sweet, corona! The place has such an interesting history, too. I always loved staying in the FM, starting in the early '90s, but haven't done so since about 1996. It's really a great area! And that's a great price, too, I think.

Saturn,
I just checked out the link you attached and what a wonderful resource. I may have to try it in the future. I'm already booked for ten days at the Biscuit Palace.
Has anyone stayed there before? Location and rooms look great. I usually stay at chain hotels but would like to try something different this fest.

We will have the kitchen, living & dining rooms, backyard, pool & hot tub, with breakfast, for about $190 per room. Not cheap, but a wonderful retreat for chillin after fest. But VERY challenging to get anyone outta there after a day of festing! Last year we ordered in from Zydecue - mmmmm. And Port of Call is 1/2 block away.
They are booked up for fest every year. Another group 1st weekend and ours 2nd. Probly just me daze between!

balcony guest house on royal first thur to sun...move over to a friend's b&b around the corner...for mon-tues after...really like stayin' there...nevah a consideration pre-thang...but maybe she should get a larger showcase for the easy time and i'll rent more during off times, when it's harder....thought i'd found my jazzfest house, but maybe i should share the spot...anyway...whole enchilada and can't wait...

Up in the air. If you check Swag's travel section, '06 was nothing like '05 in terms of price and numbers of deals found. When is the Hyatt reopening? I bet that huge amount of extra rooms opening will beget some deals. The new Harah's hotel has opened....only $848/night during Fest. Hey, that's a 430 sq ft room, and that includes taxes

The Hyatt was the priceline king... for the two years prior to last,.. we secured those digs for $50-55/night...Last year the Sheraton accepted $75/night for the first weekend and then on to the St. Louis,.. $50 for the middle daze...
I don't think they can sell all the rooms in town,.. there are always openings to catch last minute... Life never stops happenin',.. even during fest... some peeps will always have to cancel...

Staying with friends in Destrehan for free again. Although, we did spend $20 at CVS on lawn chairs which we left with them last year. Figured they could use them after we were done with them since their old ones were in a trash heap somewhere in Chalmette.
This is a friendship that arose out of going down there to do relief work and it amazes me how rewarding that experience has been. The whole point was to go down there to give and instead, I have been given much more including friendship, hospitality and wonderful experiences. I'm not one to get preachy about this kind of thing but I am amazed at the rewards for "lending a hand". I wonder if the people who are too busy pointing there fingers at the government or the victims get the same feeling?

There are also groups who set up camp at the two bigger stages and a couple of smaller stages. Wooohooo. I'm getting pumped just thinking about it.

Pigman,
That's quite a climb. I think you need to start training immediately by lifting a couple of 16 ounce, long neck weights.
I have a friend who is a cultural anthopologist. She just finished a book that argues that "community" is not dead, just redefined. I have to say Threadheads support that idea. I have never found such a friendly, helpful, joyous bunch of folks than the people that participate on this forum.
