Greetings to all. I have awakened from my lard-induced slumber in anticipation of the imminent arrival of this Cracklin' Free Jazz Fest. This morning I had to be Lafayette for 9:30 for a hearing in federal court. Given the traffic delays these days getting through Baton Rouge during rush hour, I left early (think last October), and found myself zooming through BR and arrivng in Lafayette an hour early.

So I kept going to Scott, and the Best Stop market, where after 20 minutes I found myself headed back to Lafayette with a bag of cracklin, a cup of coffee, and 5 pounds of smoked boudin. By the time I got out of my hearing and back to New Orleans (with a stop at Jacobs & Baileys in Laplace for Chicken Andouille) my car smelled like a world class smokehouse. I am in negotiations with fragrance manufacturers to make this an option for car buyers in lieu of "new car smell."

Less than 48 hours. Even without fried pork parts, this one is looking pretty good....

Dang! Best Stop has those good SPICY cracklins! I'm headed to NOLA Thursday afternoon and now I'm gonna have to make a stop at Jerry Lee's before I go just cause you mentioned it!
