Hi! My friend just borrowed 2 chairs WITHOUT LEGS to sit on at the Fest. These are just seat and back chairs without legs so we'll be right on the ground.

Do you think we'll have a problem in most places SEEING OVER the people sitting? I'm afraid most people bring chairs with legs. Or maybe most people just sit on blankets? We want to be relatively close to the show - but not standing.

If so, then I'll go out and get those light umbrella-like folding ones.

Please help?

Thanks!

Ultra,
I think it depends on the stage, the legless chairs might work ok up close at Acura, Gentilly, and at the smaller stages (Fais Do Do, Jazz & Heritage), but will definetly not be much use in the bigger crowds (unless you sit way at the back).

I know it sounds a bit crazy, but I bought a great folding (with legs) chair from the vendors outside jazz fest three years ago. I think I paid $20, probably could have gotten it cheaper somewhere else, but convienence was key. The thing is bombproof too, it's now making it's third appearence at Fest and is no worse for the wear. All a way of saying don't fret too much, you will have options right outside the gate....

Welcome to the board. The closer to the stage you get, the more people are standing so I think you will have a problem, even if your chair has legs. And there will be a section in front of the main stages this year that don't allow chairs at all. The two big stages have video screens so you might be able to get a reasonably close spot and watch the screen while sitting on the ground or a legless chair. I don't know how many times you've been to JF, but if you're like most of us, you won't feel the need to sit for long!

You'll have people sitting on blankets and in chairs. Most chairs will have legs, so if you're really worried about seeing (and the main stages have JumboTrons now), then I'd get a chair with legs. Remember too that this year, they will have a standing room only section in front of the main stages, so that might be an issue also. Hope that answers your question.

It also depends on how old your knees are -- falling to the ground is never a problem, but getting up can be.... Obviously, I NEED legs on my chair. Hell, I need NEW knees (coming in late July...).

Can't wait! Ready to roll down the river tomorrow -- woohoo!

Bon Fete!

Just find someone already on a blanket, chairless, and set up right behind them.

I picked up a chair for my Virgin today at Walgreens for $12.99, or buy the same one outside the fest gates for a bit more. They are indestructible and a perfect height to see over folks but not cause issues for folks behind you. I'd have my first chair of this kind from 4 years ago, but unbelievably, someone pinched it last year! I was shocked! Had to buy a new one....

We didn't bring one or buy one. I guess I'm just a nomad who likes to dance!! Really thought we would want one but sure wouldn't have used it or want to lug it around. I had all I needed in my pocket.
