View Full Version : GRIDS FYI

There will be periodic updates throughout the day today, possibly into the night and up until tomorrow morning. If you sent me show info it will be included. At the point when I finish, I am going to convert the grid pages to to a much smaller font, in order to economize the printing. I will post here again when that happens.
Thanks everyone for the info you have provided, it has been invaluable to the endeavor!!!
For those that sent me info on the clubs themselves, not all of that made its way into the grids, as I was adding clubs to each page when a listing required that I do so, I have tried to at least include a phone number whenever possible. This will be much easier to get squared away, once I get the grids cleaned out for next year, so the info that you have given me WILL be put to good use (that wont happen any time soon though).
Peace ... 3 Days to go!!!

Dank,
This week's Gambit lists the times for the performers at Instruments A Comin'. I have to run to a meeting right now but I can post it later this morning.

The grids are the only place where an effort is made to list every single musical happening during the Jazz Fest season. It was a great idea that has become a real boon to all the musicians and venues as well as music lovers. Terrific vision, and great follow through. Thanks!!
Here are the stage times for Instruments A Comin' 2007:
Silent Auction & Outdoor Festival, 5; Instruments A Comin' 2007 Benefit Concert w/ Amanda Shaw & the Cute Guys, 6; New Orleans Rhythm Conspiracy, 6:45; Marcia Ball, 7:30; Galactic w/ Monk Boudreaux, 8:30; Dirty Dozen Brass Band, 9:15; Donald Harrison & the T.I.P. interns, 10; Jon Cleary & the Absolute Monster Gentlemen, 10:45; the New Orleans Social Club, 11:30; Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, 12:15 a.m.; Rebirth Brass Band, 1 a.m.; Walter "Wolfman" Washington & the Roadmasters, 1:45 a.m.

I would imagine all those artists listed are indoors. Last year, there was no more music outside after the hall of fame ceremony- that probably was about 930 or so.

nola....do you know what time they move the music inside?
Seems like last year the music inside got started around 6:00. There were still some brass bands playing outside in between the inside sets, but I don't know what they are doing for outside entertainment this year.

The grids are finished ... OHIO may be PDF-ifying them as we speak. I'll let him speak for himself here
The whats new page is current, I made the font xx-small so you can print directly from the site smaller, and flushed out any empty rows
The Book and CD signings are listed directly on the InStores page, they arent gridded, didnt seem worth it to me.
ENJOY, Im now in vacation mode ... see y'all Saturday!!!

Thanks for the kind words. Knowing how much Ive enjoyed them myself in the past, and having the oppurtunity to give the gift back to others is a nice warm feeling. Having finished them is a total relief, and I will accept your drink offer if I see you. most other people only offered a beer, not "drinks for the night" .... LOL, :)

And well deserved. Thanks so much Dank for the hours and hours you've spent on the grids. I don't think people realize how hard you work to keep it up to date, while still preparing for fest like the restof us, and reading the threads, and actually doing some real w*rk in between.

Did fest win out hands down, or was that decision a struggle for ya?
I became a Rangers fan in the late 80's/early 90's through a college roommate and them being my fav Playstation Hockey team ... Tikkanen was my boy!! I lost interest over the last 7-8 years, but it looks like they are back!
