Tipitinas-best transportation

I've been to about 10 Jazz Fests, but never made it to Tipitinas. I've got tickets for "Intruments a Comin'" this year. I'll be staying at a Hotel in Downtown NO. I know Tips is uptown. Is a taking a Taxi to Tipitinas the best or only way to go?

i would suggest the taxi thing...i did that last year and it was so much easier...

shame on you for not getting to Tips sooner!!! you should really really enjoy that Instruments show..

Thanks, that's what I thought. Yes, never been to Tips, it's hard getting my friends interested. There's just so much to do around Jazz Fest. I finally got to Donnas last year, and saw Allen Toussant at Snug Harbor. David Bowie and Al Green at the Saenger, most of the Ponderosa Stomp nights at the Rock n' Bowl. Lets not forget Elvin Jones at the Funky Butt. Jazz Fest time is the best. Tips is a little out of the way, not sure about the neighborhood.

The neighborhood is fine, brush. And it's an early start if you want to see it all-6pm.

If You have a car, there is plenty of parking at the grocery store just across the street.

Agree on the cab as best.

If cash is tight, you could take the #10 Tchopitoulas bus out there, but the last bus back is around 11p, so you'll need to take a cab back. You may find others also cabbing back to downtown to share with.

It is helpful to program the phone number of the cab company into your cell in case you have to call for a cab when you get out. there are usually alot of cabs lined up but last year there was a shortage and you needed to call for a pickup when you came out.

I did taxi to IAC...easiest I am sure....even last year when there weren't as many cabs in town it wasn't hard to get one home, should be easier this year.
