I have really run out of the ability to keep track of what is going on every night during fest. I am just going to plan on ending up somewhere good to eat then somewhere good to listen to music. After that it is all gravy or dressing or sauce or whatever you call it.

That is the way to do it. Our group round filed 10 Sonny Landreth tiks a few years back. It seems ridiculous now, but we were having way to much fun doing whatever we were doing and did not want to disrupt the flow.

That's what I'm talking about. That's gonna be me second weekend. I have no music shows planned, just dinner with great friends. I'm gonna go where the wind takes me . . .

Hey Now--- That show w/ Fred Wesley should be awesome.... Fred was the tromboner(!) for the JB Horns, James Browns' longtime backups (along w/ Maceo Parker) and was also played backup with Van Morrison for many years, into the late 1990's. I am extremely hopeful that Fred will sit in at Vans' set at Fest!!! He (Fred) must be around eighty years young, and you never know how long any of us have left. It would be great to see the two of them share the stage once again. Matthew

I'm right with 'ya Matthew on Fred Wesley. That jumped off the page at me. That man can play some serious funk.

I was really wondering how y'all would do this!
It seems like everyone who has a decent band is gigged in New Orleans.
It's impossible to pack it all in in two weeks....it reminds me of the first time I went to Disney World with the Rosebuds....had to run everywhere to see everything....not a great vacation, needed another vacation to recover from my vacation :D

Hey Now Steeleye--- Fred has been makin' it funky for me for years. I like him so much, I flew down to New Orleans in January to catch a tribute for James Brown that Fred, George Porter and Johnny Vidacovich put on at Tips.... Off the hook!!! I am sure the Godfather was right proud.... I sure hope that Van makes a call and Fred picks it up. Van is always SOOOOO much better when he has some high octane players to back him up and funk him up!!! See you at Fest, Matthew

Fred Wesley is like butter, yall!
Somebody had a tag line that went something like this: "Many people speak of love and happiness. To me, happiness is Fred Wesley, blowin' his horn..." James Brown
