As part of the effort to publicize the FestAid volunteer program, I have tapped a few media contacts at The Boston Globe and Channel 5 to help get the word out.

We stand a much better chance of getting ink or air time if local people tell their story of donating time and energy, so this is a call for help.

Reply here or e-mail danhamgps@yahoo.com if you would be willing to talk to someone at the Globe or Channel 5. Anyone who volunteered last year or is planning to volunteer this year is eligible.

You can gain instant eligibility by signing up now at www.festaid.com [grin].

Thanks,

-dan

Fantastic! Thanks.

The best thing you can do is call or email the Globe and Channel 5 and tell them the great story of volunteering on vacation.

My pal at the Globe left for vacation today before giving me a name in Travel or Entertainment, but here's two that may work. If you contact them, mention that Peter Howe (business reporter) passed along a press release from me to folks in Travel and Entertainment before he left. Let me know if you want a copy too.

At Channel 5 you'd have to go in cold, but could try Chronicle:

Do you encourage story ideas?
Yes, but we ask that you send your ideas in writing to either Chris Stirling or Susan Sloane, Chronicle, 5 TV Place, Needham, Ma 02494. Or you can e-mail us at chronicle@TheBostonChannel.com
