.....just a curiosity thing. Something in TnT's wedding thread got me thinking.
And yes, if you had multiple nuptials, you can have multiple songs.
Ours was "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes....still feel warm and fuzzy when I hear it

This is a very long story but we had a three piece bluegrass band play "Fat man in the bathtub" So cool. Married in the backyard of my hubby's grandfather's house in Georgetown DC who insisted we get married by a Catholic Priest. Trouble is I was not Catholic, so we got married by a Jewish Judge that wore his robes and Granddad never suspected a thing. Such a great time

well... I love Billy Idol. and I told my wife I'd marry her on 5 conditions (all of which she blew by, no problem...) but the second to last was "we have to invite Billy Idol to our wedding."
my wife (check the Single at JF thread) is a very cool cat, so she was down with that.
so I sat her down and told her....
"Sweetheart. I love you. With all of my heart. And getting married to you is the point of the day... BUT...
if Idol actually shows. and he sings 'White Wedding' at our wedding... well..
All bets are off.
I will go through with the ceremony, because that's the point of the day. BUT, if he sings "White Wedding"... All bets are off. I'll blow lines of crystal meth off the wedding cake, if that's what Idol wants." (I don't do drugs anymore.
or any less...)
well, Idol didn't show. but our wedding party came out at the reception to Billy Idol's "To Be a Lover" (honestly... play it loud.)
and our wedding song? (that was one of the conditions. Condition #3 "I pick the wedding song we dance to as man & wife." Codicile to #3: It WILL be a Frank Sinatra song.")
Our wedding song was Frank Sinatra's "I Have Dreamed (the Love Song from The King & I) -- It's incredible. give it a listen. on the Reprise disc set. Play this very loud as well.
so powerful, so moving and... (most importantly) BRIEF. I don't care for the LONG indulgent wedding songs. Frankie nailed it....
great thread. I spent hours on our selections, and gave CDs as table gifts. we've been married 5 years and people still have 'em in their car CD players. hit me & you'll get one as we're renewing our vows this year...
"nice day to... start again... come on, it's a... nice day for a... white wedding"

I love this story!!!
I can't say that we really have a wedding song per se. Rather than make all the people in PA come to the Memphis, we decided to get married up there. The organist really wouldn't budge off of classical stuff, but we reached some good compromises. We did have a little reception up there, but we just had background mood music. Most of the folks there had some years on us and weren't big partiers. A few months later we had a blowout reception in Memphis for all of our friends.
I can say that E made up her mind to marry me at Jazzfest in 2001. We had been dating since 1997. She thinks that the moment may have struck her when we listened to the Dixie Cups sing "Chapel of Love". "Iko Iko" would have made a better story.

"We Belong" by Lowen and Navarro. Now, there's so many others I'd pick instead but we didn't really give it much thought. It was funny though when we met with our DJ and he showed us his song list with the typical wedding fare (what no Bo Deans, Clash, Nevilles, B52's, Subdudes, Buckwheat, John Hiatt, Danny Gatton?). We scheduled another meeting and I brought in about 80 CD's so he'd have something decent to play. I'm not sure what the bigger highlight was, slam dancing to Should I Stay Or Should I Go by the Clash or the bridesmades rolling around the floor to Rock Lobster.

Played in the church on our way out,
(Eric Clapton)
Standing at the crossroads, trying to read the signs
To tell me which way I should go to find the answer,
And all the time I know,
Plant your love and let it grow.
[Chorus:]
Let it grow, let it grow,
Let it blossom, let it flow.
In the sun, the rain, the snow,
Love is lovely, let it grow.

as soon as we sealed with a kiss,.. "Europa",.. and the unmistakable riffs of Carlos Santana filled the rafters of the Basketball Hall of Fame (1st weddin' ever there,.. maybe the last too),.. because five straight hours of non-stop food and open bar followed... There was no structured sit down meal as the food was prepared and served at numerous stations throughout the evenin',.. and the guests could enjoy whenever the whim to endulge hit,.. and our guests also had free reign throughout the museum all night long....
for the first dance,.. the Sinatra version of "All of Me"... there was good reason for that choice ;)............
Strongly considered the same version of Van the Man that Saturn surely enjoyed..... way mo' betta' than Rod Stewarts later attempt.... maybe they can do a battle of the bands on that one in a few weeks....

The prelude music at our Catholic wedding included Bob Dylan's "Forever Young." All the music at the service had to be pre-approved by the church's conservative music director. We thought she might not allow anything by Dylan so we listed the writer as "Robert Zimmerman." Not really a lie. Do we have to confess that? She said she liked the song but was not familier with the "composer."

And don't forget the other one, other one
Elvis-I can't help falling in love with you(she wasn't that conservative)
and at the dance, our song was Precious, Precious,Otis Clay
sidebar,2004 Otis hisself sang the song to us on our 15th aniv and told you
"it musta been cheaper to keep her"
was it? don't answer that :>)

Our wedding song was "Power of Love" by Marcia Ball. We honeymooned at Jazzfest, and got Marcia to sing it to us at Jimmy's. (We also later got her to sign our wedding invitation which quotes the song, and it is framed in our bedroom!)
The average person asks us what our song was, and we say "Power of Love" and they think it is Celine Dion or Huey Lewis. Eeek!
We walked down the aisle to "Chapel of Love" by the Dixie Cups. And we exited the ceremony to "I Do" by J. Geils.

AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH!!!
Our song should have been Stuck with You- Huey Lewis and The News cause we have known each other since a minute post puberty and then dated for nine years...wedding vow song One Hand One Heart from West Side Story First Dance sposed to be "You've got a Friend" James Taylor version not Carol It is on the video with other unspeakable 80's stuff...but ended up being "As Time Goes By" due to a last minute snow induced missed rehearsal by the band .....Karma cause we both really love this song and it's meaning has grown "As Time Goes By." how not cool is that ?

Figured I'd jump in here since I was ALMOST married (before the whole "Priestboy" gig, of course;) ). Our wedding (slated for 4/22/89) song was gonna be "You are My Lady" by Freddie Jackson. If I had to pick an "ordination song" it would have to be either: "Back in Black" by AC/DC or "Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer.:D

We picked "The Addams Family" theme song (the one from the TV show) for our grand entrance.
If I ever get married again, it's going to be "Native Stepson". Or, maybe I'll use that as the wedding march and expose the guests to some real music. :D

We started with Kenny G but then it got better. After Fats "Red Sails in the Sunset", we finished with Buckwheat's version of "Walking to New Orleans".
A highlight of our honeymoon in New Orleans was when my bride asked Wendell Brunious to sing "Down on the Farm" to me at Preservation Hall...you know the song..."Over at the (Audubon Park) zoo, they all ask for you....the monkees ask, the lions ask, they all ask for you"
"A Kiss to Build A Dream on..." my fave song...

First of all second weekend was awesome...a little (cough, cough) rain on friday and a beautiful saturday followed by a brutally hot sunday. Par for the course and nothing could take anything away from the great music, food and fun...My fiance oops I mean wife (as of Monday afternoon) and I had a blast and shared JF w/ so many friends and family. Jazzfest tix $35, plane tix $200, crawfish Monica and a cold beer $9, seeing your mother and father dancing in the Gospel Tent...Priceless. Anyway the highlight of the wedding was Washboard Chaz doing a rendition of Jim Croce's Time in a Bottle at Antoinnes, it made my wife cry....So there it is, our wedding song.
