Ok, we all know how the music business is struggling with the emergence of digital media. The places taking the hardest hit is independent music stores. We all need to take an active role in supporting Louisiana Music Factory to make sure they don't go the same route as Virgin/Tower. We're down to one place for instores, but luckily for us it is the best of all the places that survived. Now you're probably asking yourself, "what is this bumbling idiot getting at?!?!?!?!" Here it is: Everybody please make it a point to buy at least one CD from LMF. I realize I'm preaching to the choir here, but try to purchase one more item than you normally would. If we all picked up something new that looks interesting, but we've never heard before then after the fest we can all come back here after fest and discuss our picks. If you get something fantastic, recommend it and the rest of us can mail order from LMF. When you're drinking your $1 Abitas and listening to great free music think of the money you're saving and put that back into LMF. If we lose LMF then the days of instores are over!!!!! Thank you for reading my rant.

edit to say: I don't work for LMF...just a big fan of what they do for us.

Definitely preaching to the choir here.

We're known as the Big-ol'-LMF-Bag Krewe. We even have our own T'head discount at the store... that most of us haven't taken since K.

Hopefully, those lurking will get the message and drop some of their hard earned cash there, too. :)

This bored is pretty much the home of the LMF fan club. I've been keeping an "I want this CD list" for a couple of months just so I could get them at LMF.

you know - we do all buy stuff from LMF - but I like the idea of 'buy just one more thing' -(not that we really need any encouragement -hee hee hee) - good thought. And yes, DMCA and the whole digital nightmare can just go away.....

A quick coffee rant this morning to agree but also comment . . .

It's important to support LMF and I do, every year. But it's also important to focus the problem a bit more too. Digital is not the devil; my son is a recording engineer/producer/musician and digital has done nothing but boost his career.

IOW, the term "music business" is too broad here.

Bottom line: support the stores, support the artists, support the technicians, support the live venues who bring you our favorite diversion in life. Weep not for the record company conglomerates, however. [g]

No worries. There are several titles I've been holding off buying until I get there for the in-stores.

OK, list makers, let's see those lists. I think we did this last year around this time and it's a good thread to do it again. I added several CD's (Eric Lindell's Change in the Weather come to mind) to my list as a result of that thread and likely will again.

So ladies show me your lists (guys to I guess).

Here's mine:

Kermit Ruffins – Live At Vaughns
Trombone Shorty – End of the Beginning & New Orleans Ave.
Delfeayo Marsalis – Minions Dominion
Stanton Moore - III
Harry Connick Jr. - Oh My NOLA
Papa Grow Funk - Mr. P's Hat
Bonerama - Live in NY

Harry Conick-Oh My NOLA
New Orleans Jazz Vipers-all 3 cds I've worn mine out and they need to be replaced

And whatever else cathces my eye.

Yes, yes, yes. All lovers of Stanton Moore and the funk must pick up III. And my other recommendation is Dirty Dozen's What's Goin ON. Be forewarned though, it does have some rap on it.

1-Trombone Shorty -End of the beginning.
2-Gumbohead's new release
3-Underdawgs' new release, if it's out.
4-Sacred Funk

I do not like Rap. Can't stand it. But, I could listen to Chuck D any day.
