Huge billboard near OHare airport says :

Forever
NEW
Orleans

Soul is Waterproof

Took my breath away yesterday, and I didn't even catch what the photo was, driving down the tollway. Googled, and its a campaign from the NO CVB.

Also, lots of ads for JazzFest on WXRT (Chicago's best music station) and a couple in the Tribune.

Anyone else seeing more advertising this year?

Yes, I saw that ad on the Tollway a few weeks ago and let out a whoohoo!

Also, I think XRT is giving away a trip second weekend to some listeners to dine with and see Joss Stone. So, keep your eyes out for Lin Bremmer or Tom Marker while down there.

BTW, I still want to thank Tom Marker personally if I ever meet him. He closed out his set for the Heartland Alliance fundraiser with my request to play Irma Thomas. I dedicated it to all the people who lost their homes in New Orleans. For non-Chicagoans, Heartland Alliance is an organization which helps the homeless. The song, 'In the Middle of It All".

I saw a billboard advertising visiting New Orleans over on Division and Halsted near La Scarola (such an awesome restaraunt.) Can't remember what it said but if I remember correctly it was a pic of a guy with a sax. Got me excited to see it.

yep, it's a new ad campaign by the New Orleans Convention Bureau to spur more visits. Huge billboards all over the country to try to correct the image that the beloved city is still underwater... Well done.

This is great. Not really an ad campaign, just trying to dispell the confusion and ignorance that might keep the rest of country from traveling to NOLA post-"thing".
What a fantastic idea! I'm glad to hear that they're all around the country. I hope I see one soon!

Frosty, I see Tom Marker everywhere! Seems like we go to the same shows. Last year (or was it year before?) Terri Hemmert sat right behind me on the plane home, she goes to fest regularly & talks about it on her show.

I've heard it pushed by dj's on the classic rock station and the pbs jazz station here, haven't seen any from the CVB.

Yes, I saw him at Buddy Guy's this year but he was in the VIP area. I walked over there after the show and he was gone. It was right after the Heartland Alliance day too so he might actually have remembered playing the song. I just wanted to say thank you.

We sat behind Terri Hemmert and her uh significant other at an Iguanas show. She and Tom Marker are my two favorites.
