A friend of mine just booked their room for fest on Hotwire (Tues 5/1 - Tues 5/8) and got the Sheraton for $ 99/night. It's listed as a 4-star Cust Fave in the downtown area.

I decided to cancel my Astor Crowne Plaza reservations I made awhile back on easyclicktravel.com ($91 nite) for 1st weekend. NO penalty and go with the Hilton Riverside ($55) from Priceline. Name your price, 4 star, CBD.

There are some really good deals popping up. We booked our hotel back in Dec on Hotwire (got the Intercontinental). We always book before January. Could have gotten a better deal if we held out but you just never know.

I think the location justifies the extra $35/night for the Astor. That, and it's a nicer hotel. That price is a stea for the Hilton though, I just like being in the Quarter as opposed to across Canal St.

Swag posted somewhere else that this deal is no longer available. I think you need to bid closer to $100 to get it now...

Damn! I should have waited until the last minute. It appears that Hotwire is offering the Sheraton for $80 a night. It's listed as a 4* in the French Quarter. Next year I'm waiting til just before the fest to book my room. The Hilton for $65 and the Sheraton for $80 is pretty sweet.

The Sheraton isnt in the quarter, is it?

I just booked a 3* HW, got Hotel St. Marie. Could have gone 4* for $4/day more, but was hoping for the hotel where all the threadheads are- gambled and lost. Not really- im cool with the hotel, but would have gone 4* otherwise.

PL & HW both consider Canal St to be the boundary between the FQ and DT. So the Marriott is FQ, but the Doubletree, Sheraton, and JW Marriott are all in the DT zone.

MD, can I post your HW purchase? What price?

Hey Swag...did you ever get my PL for the Hilton, 5/3-5/7? If not, what do you need?

KY- you must be single. My wife has been yelling at me for a week!

Swag- Mon-Fri, $72/night, fq, 3*.

I figured it wouldnt be the Holiday inn, since it wasnt a boutique or whatever. I didnt expect this, since someone earlier got this (according to your site) and it was 2.5 stars. I know on PL you can get bumped up- but HW?

Got a few of those. Check my page, see if one matches yours. If not, date bid, zone & level (DT 4* ?), stay dates and price.

swag, since you are on at the moment....

do you have any suggestions for a last minute booking? I'm looking at the $75 range....i'm arriving 2nd weekend friday, leaving the following monday...

i thought about trying the sheraton simply because it is a sweet local.....i'm banking on holiday inn near howlin....

just curious, i know however that you are not a travel agent....(also, this seems to be an opportune time to have an exchange with you)

Hotwire doesn't "upgrade", since they tell you the * level before purchase. I just hecked, and the ST. Marie is listed as a 3* under their air/hotel packages. So either the earlier report was erroneous, or the hotel has been re-classified and upgraded sometime in the last 3 months.

OK...so the $72 out the door rate I see for Sunday 5/6 on HW, is for the Hotel St. Marie? I had assumed it was the big Holiday Inn, but perhaps the St. Marie is a little nicer and more quaint?

Probably- it was last night. they don't tell you till you pay. all you have are educated guesses. it looks like a cool hotel to me.
