I'm staying on Magazine street but have friends about 4 miles away. Is it easy to get taxis at night and/or are the trolley cars running yet?

The street cars are not running, but the RTA said that there will be busses in their place. Where are you staying on Mag? and where are your friends stayin'?

taxis are easy enough - however, its hard to know exactly how long they may take after you call, post-k i've had to wait anywhere from 5 minutes to about 1/2 hour .... call UNITED CAB (they are the locals favorite and awesome guys, usually you'll get a driver who is local and has great stories) - United Cab's number is (504)522-9771 and/or (504) 522-9772.

The street car would not have been the best way for you. You would have to walk fro Magazine to St Charles. I tried checking the transit maps, but it looks like the Magazine St bus stops at the Zoo. Your best bet would be giving United Cab some of your business.;)
