I'm going to be heading down to Louisiana Music Factory on Wednesday and I already have a few cds in mind that I'd like to pick up but, I really want to get some John Boutte as well. Which cd's should I get?

Live at Jazz Fest 2007 is pretty good. He does an amazing version of 'City of New Orleans.'
However, and I hate saying this as I think everyone should buy everything from LMF, you might want to wait for JazzFestLive to release Boutte's set from 1st weekend. It'll be available for purchase 2nd weekend.
It really was an amazing set, and it included City of New Orleans and Hallelujah.

Good Neighbor is John's best studio album.

What Chris said.
It sounded very, very good playing on the stereo at 3 Muses as we worked through our first couple of Abitas Wednesday night when we got to town!

I gotta go with Jambalaya as best all around.
I'll add a vote for Good Neighbor.

I haven't bought any of the fest set recordings in the past, but was thinking of doing so this year. How much do they usually run?

You can get a lot of information on the jazzfest live recordings here:
www.jazzfestlive.com
I think you'll find the 2007 Boutte set available at the fairgrounds this weekend. You might also find his set from this past Saturday which was also excellent.

I highly suggest this year's jazz fest set. I bought the cd yesterday and it's a really great representation of john and where he's at right now.

I went to the tent where they sell the live recordings and they told me it was $50. That's more than I spent on that day's ticket. Do they go down in price?

I think you misheard them - $15, not $50. You can get his live at jazz fest from 2007 on itunes for $9.99 also
