A few years ago, they started selling frozen Southern Comfort drinks (like a frozen daiquiri but made with SoCo) and single glasses of wine, but I have never had either of them at Fest, so I am not sure how much they cost.....

I saw stands selling wine First Weekend. Sorry I did not investigate further. I put off alcohol until I'm out of the sun and in less danger of dehydration. Just being at JazzFest puts me in a fine mood, alcohol would be gilding the fleur-de-lis.
Wine is $6, airplane-size bottle 187 ml.
Champagne (techncally, sparking wine) is $9.

Everyone....almost.
The two most popular are Dom Perion, Or Mumms. Both from the Champagne province of France.

For people who enjoy Champagne, but are not loaded down with excess amounts of $$$, I recommend trying out Cava, which is the Spanish take on sparkling wine.
I think it is often superior in flavor to French Champagne, and there are many labels that can be had for around 10 bucks a pop, if not less.
A good Cava, properly chilled, is heavenly, (even if served in a paper cup, enjoyed while sitting on a park bench in Barcelona) and is one of the most sublime, yet budget-friendly tipples around.

After a trip to Italy, I'm a prosecco convert. Bellini's are the best - and if you're going to mix in peach or pear juice, why the hell would you use the "good" stuff? And I see one distinct portability advantage that prosecco has over the corked bubblies...

I gave up drinking over 20 yrs. ago, but back in the day (my 1st JF was 1978) people would bring lil red wagons into Fest filled with booze & suppplies.
Much more fun... make your own party rather than sit passively waiting to be entertained......
Plus all the legendary Louisiana performers were still alive....

those spaniards can get their sparkle on...
NV Segura Viudas Brut Cava Reserva
Rondel Pura Raza Brut
NV Rondel Pura Raza Semi-Seco
they can be found at the "total wine and more" store in our local market.. all 3 allow for a very enjoyable sparklin' experience despite the low price tags as all are priced at 7.99 a bottle... at that price ya' can "sample" all 3 as often as you wish...
quite simply,.. easily the most bang for the buck that i am aware of in the spirits world...

One of the single most enjoyable hours of my life was spent plunking down 5 Euros for a chilled bottle of cheap Cava and then sitting on a park bench, drinking it out of a paper cup, and simply watching the good people of Barcelona go about their day....

Sounds delicious; maybe the next time we all get together, a round of those suckers will be in order....:)
(For the record, I have decided to stop drinking beer, except for occasional religious observances or the odd social obligation I might find myself engaged in)

Then do I have the calendar for you! It's from 2008 and needs updating, but, if I read it right, virtually every day of the year has religious significance to some culture, and it might be blasphemous to abstain from the glories of beer observance on any of the marked occasions. And, yes, I'm a bad influence. You're welcome! ;)

I gave up drinking over 25 years ago, but LUV drinkin' songs..... how about Merle Haggard "I'll Just Sit Here & Drink"; creative rhyming: "drink" rhymes with "bank"
Thorogood has some of the best....
