I'm an idiot and I'm not paying attention to stuff, and so I bought my ticket ages ago and NOW I realize that in order to be up close, I need to pay extra for a VIP ticket. (lame). So it says "a few" can upgrade, and I'm guessing that I'm way WAY WAY too late and too un-special (and probably too broke) to upgrade. Is there a link somewhere that upgrades? Or gives information about upgrading? I've never seen any tickets that were a VIP for just one day, does that not exist? When I went to ticket master it said the total was like $600 for a full-weekend Grand Marshall Pass. My ticket is just a genadmission. Now I'm pissed. I wanted to see Jason up close and I was all set to get there early and stay at that stage all day so I'd be in front. This (http://www.nojazzfest.com/tickets/grandmarshal.php) is what I'm looking at, and that probably answers all my questions, I'm guessing.
Also, thank you everyone for being so nice and answering my retarded questions. Everyone on this thread has been so helpful.

They only sell weekend grand Marshall tickets. Some people on the bord are splitting the pass. You might try to put this message on the main jazz festival topic.

There are no single day Grand Marshall passes. Just beyond the Grand Marshall area, there is a standing room only area (no chairs) that gets you pretty close but that is as close as you will get with a regular day ticket.
You'll obviously do as you please, but I will take a moment to encourage you to spend as much time as possible visiting the other stages and checking out all that the festival has to offer. Camping out at one stage for a single performer you really miss out on so much that this festival has to offer.
Either way, have fun.

Don't worry. It's just like other GA concerts. Get there early, make friends so you have somewhere to come back to and enjoy the show. The Grand Marshal tickets ARE nice, but certainly not necessary for a good view.
