Okay, we're having a tough time picking the first night in NOLA restaurant. We try to pick something different each year. I'm working my way through Zagats & Open Table. I need HELP!!!! (in oh so many ways ;) )
Pelican Club menu looks interesting. What do you think?
It's good, maybe not as creative withthe menu as some other better known places, but I've never had a bad meal there. And the wait to get in there during Fest can be a lot more reasonable than at other Zagatly rated places in the FQ. So shhhh.
(Note, I haven't been to Pelican Club since the Thing, so no firsthand experience on how well it has recovered).

They take reservations now through OpenTable.com. I guess the secret's out.

I was there several years ago, pre-K. It was very good, but to me did not feel like I was in NEW ORLEANS. The look, feel, and menu coulda been in any big sophisticated city. A very nice place tho.

I was there last year and had an absolutely marvelous meal with excellent service. I would definately go if I were you!
I've eaten there twice. Pre and post "thing". My fav is the paneed gulf fish with jumbo lump crabmeat and jalapeno hollandaise, served with brabant potatoes.
