Does anyone know if you will be able to leave the festival (to check into hotel) and then return at a later time??? Or is this a one time enter fest??

Koongirl....there are only certain passes you can purchase that will allow you re-entry. I believe the Grand Marshall pass is one of them. Someone here will guide you in the right direction, as they have for me.
Correct, there's no re-entry allowed without a WWOZ brass pass ($425 for the whole fest) or one of the VIP packages (starting at $450 per weekend), or just buying an extra day ticket to get back in ($60).
But the logistics of the fest make leaving to check into a hotel difficult anyway. You won't want to walk around fest with your luggage, and there's nowhere to check it. If you have a car you could leave bags in the trunk, but parking at the fest is scarce, so you won't want to give up your spot if you plan to return.
Best plan is to go to the hotel before the fest and check in then, or if the room isn't ready, just check your bags there, head to the fest, and check in to your room after the fest.

That's what I plan on doing, probably the easiest option if you don't have a car.
